About Me

I grew up on my family's farm in a little slice of heaven called Parker, AZ, growing cotton, wheat, alfalfa, and corn on the bank of the Colorado River! I got my B.S. degree from the University of Arizona in agriculture with a minor in business. Having played in bands all through high school and college, I put my degree to good use writing songs and playing honky tonk clubs throughout Arizona with four other guys, and we called ourselves Copper Canyon. I loved performing and traveling, but after a while I got an itch that I needed to scratch, so I packed up Ol' Paint (my truck) and headed to Nashville. After a short internship, I landed a staff engineering job at Sound Stage Studios, under the tutelage of Warren "What are you doing?" Rhoades. It turned out to be quite the education, working on sessions with artists ranging from Bill Anderson to Garth Brooks (as Chris Gaines) to Jermaine Dupri and 112! After a year and a half at Sound Stage, I had the amazing opportunity to go work with producers extraordinaire John Kelton and Keith Stegall, and I jumped at it. For the past seven years, I've worked on albums for Alan Jackson, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Jamie O'Neal, Craig Morgan, Clay Walker, Billy Currington, Terri Clark, and many others. With all that time spent in the studio, a guy starts to get a little crazy, and needs to stretch out a little. So over the past couple of years, I've started focusing on producing some acts myself, and things are going quite well. In 2005, I produced an album with Sage Keffer (sagekeffer.com), which garnered much critical acclaim, and early this year I finished an album for Dean Brody (myspace.com/deanbrody) on Broken Bow Records, with the first single due out this summer. Along with the production work, I've been drawn back to what brought me to Nashville in the first place....songwriting. I've got two songs on Dean's album (co-written with Dean), and I'm piling up a bunch more that are looking for a loving home!Holding all this together on a daily basis is my incredible wife and four kids, who let me know when my B.S. degree is getting a little deep, and make me realize how truly blessed I am!
