CHAPTER ONE - Once upon a time, not too long ago...in the far reaches of Upstate Albany -(the capital of New York) is where it all started. The year was 1994, I began my first semester as a freshman at the University at Albany. I was finally introduced to the college lifestyle: parties, partying & more partying! From on-to-off campus parties -to- Happy Hour @ WT's a.k.a. Washington Tavern and their .99 cent wings -to- Thurs. night Latin parties @ Valentine's -to- Friday night hip-hop parties @ Bogie's and their Long Island Ice Teas...little did I know, I was about to embark on a journey into becoming a NYC club promoter.
In 1997, The University at Albany was rated the Number 1 Party School in America by Princeton Review...I can honestly say, I absolutely, positively had nothing to do with that! lol
Upon graduating, I fulfilled one of my lifelong dreams and became a Wall St. broker & worked in the World Trade Center -(R.I.P.) As a young, working professional, I began experiencing the best of what New York City Night Life had to offer. In 2000, my first club/lounge/bar experiences were at Webster Hall, Bar None, Carbon, China Club/Jade Terrace, Copacabana, LQ's, Cafe Remy, Metronome & Moonlighting.
After a couple years of hardcore clubbing, in 2002 and on...my list of clubs had expanded to more A-List parties & upscale spots like Centro Fly, Chaos, Cheetah, E'toile, Eugene, Exit, Luahn, Ohm, Saci & Sound Factory. By now, the bottle poppin' craze took the club industry by storm. The only way to access the club's most exclusive V.I.P. rooms was to reserve tables & purchase bottles. My boys & I would pop a couple bottles every weekend..."BALLA" status was thus hath shall hath shall thus achieved.
Tragically enough, the horrific events of 9/11 brought my party ride to a screeching haut. I can not lie, it affected in ways you wouldn't and couldn't describe. Weeks would pass and neither I, -nor the city ever seem to have fully recovered from the terrorist attack that changed the way Americans live. But then, one day it dawned on me, am I going to stop living my life because of some religious faction vs. the U.S. in an international battle for oil -(money) or am I going to count my blessings that I survived and live my life to the fullest?
223 venues later...lol...I stepped into a lounge called 9 & 1/2 and met the one promoter who made the most simplistic business offer that I have ever heard. It went a lil' something like this: "Come help promote my party, I'll take care of you..." and so, he's the one who brought me into the promoting game -Sammy K of the DirtyStayOut.com family. After creating a minor buzz in the promoting industry, I eventually get a call from the biggest Latin turned Mainstream promoter in all of NYC -Eric Virgil. With the help & guidance of Eric Soler and Luck Lezcano of Eric & Luck, LLC., Sammy K & Joe Messina of the DirtyStayOut Family & Joseee of Queen's Finest...the rest is basically history. ~My "DREAM GIRL" would have to be MULTI-DIMENSIONAL, DYNAMIC, ESSENTRIC and UNIQUE...real COOL, DARING, MATURE, CAREER-ORIENTED, WELL-ROUNDED & UNDERSTANDING. She has to be very PRETTY (w/ a tight BODY), SEXY, SMART and STYLISH. She would also have to be INDEPENDENT -(but DEPENDENT on me -in bed, of course! lol).
~I expect my girl to be very RESPECTFUL, FAIR, FAITHFUL, HONEST, LOYAL and TRUSTWORTHY. -(Sort of like "Alabama" from TRUE ROMANCE...lol) I like a girl who's FUNNY who has a great sense of HUMOR -(very important)...one that's FUN to be around...one who's SWEET, CLASSY and SOPHISTICATED..."DOWN" but EDUCATED and most of all, I like a girl who is very PASSIONATE.
-Although I don't really have a problem meeting women, I do have a problem meeting the "RIGHT" woman...you know, "the ONE"
-When it comes to a relationship, I pretty much possess "old fashion" values.
-The cruelest thing you can do to someone is cheat on them and/or let them fall in love with you when you don't intend on catching him or her fall.
-A relationship should always be 50/50 or very close to that.
"COMMUNICATION" is the key.
-Saying the words, "I Love You" means nothing unless you show it through actions & other forms of expressions.
-Treat me good and I'll treat you better...do me wrong, I reassure you...it will be the worse mistake you'll ever make in your life.
-Although money is important, it is certainly not everything...when one can not provide through monetary means, one can provide another with LOVE, AFFECTION, FAITHFULNESS and ATTENTION.
-LIES, BETRAYAL & DECEIT is the downfall to any relationship.
-In a "REAL" relationship...the two people involved should be strictly "MONOGAMOUS"
-Let's try it again, "M-O-N-O-G-A-M-O-U-S!!"
8 STAGES of DATING:
1. You "meet" the person...
2. You start "talking" to the person...
3. You start "seeing" the person...
4. You start "dating" the person...
5. You date that person "exclusively"
6. You make a "commitment" to each other...you are now BOYFRIEND & GIRLFRIEND.
7. As boyfriend & girlfriend...you take the next step by getting "engaged"
8. Finally, you take the final step and get "married"...you are now HUSBAND & WIFE.

Soulmate vs. Playmate
In our quest for happiness, we must be sure that we don't settle for a Playmate when God has a Soulmate waiting for us. Sometimes this is a hard distinction to make. Playmates are tricky. They are so much fun to be with that even the smartest of us will be fooled into thinking this has to be our Soulmate. Worse yet too many of us attempt to make a Soulmate out of a Playmate. The danger of this is that latter, after years of playing we will meet our Soulmate, but it may be too late then. We may have already made a Lifemate of our Playmate and created life-long bonds (emotional, children, etc.) Or we may have been hurt from playing so hard that we are in no shape ourselves to be anyone's anything. How can we distinguish between the One, and just another one?
First, we must be open with ourselves about who we really are and what our soul yearns for. Only you and God know what is truly in your heart and mind. Only you know what will make you truly happy and whole. In order to find your Soulmate you have to know you, first. You must be willing to listen to that inner voice. And is that voice telling you that the nerdy person you enjoy talking and sharing your thoughts with, could be he? What about that friend who is always willing to go the extra mile for you when no one else will. Oh no! He's too short or too tall, balding or too hairy, and on and on? Just too ordinary looking for me! Then there's that girl who makes you feel so special when you're around her, but she doesn't match that ideal you have conjured in your head. She's too tall, not slender enough, not light or dark enough, not shapely enough, not attractive enough and on & on. She just couldn't be for me! So what if he or she doesn't look like Brad Pitt or Adriana Lima! He or she is going to treat you like the jewel that you are. Not only that, his or her soul and yours will commune in ways you never imagined possible!
In order to heed that voice, we have to put on the back burner our own superficial thinking. Could it be that your inner desire is for a truly genuine person with a good heart? If you enjoy playing, stay on the playground. There are plenty of Playmates out there to occupy your time. But don't spend too much time playing or you may play your life away. Eventually the playing loses it appeal and your soul begins to crave a deeper, more meaningful connection. Your soul begins to crave your Soulmate. The one who you want to raise your children and spend the rest of your life together with. My Soulmate...I know she is out there for me and I am patiently waiting.
