About Me

A west coast girl living on the east coast. Because of my unfamiliarity with things like snow, humidity, scarfs, Old Bay, bridges, leaves that change color, traffic circles, and states you can drive through in less than a day, my friends like to marvel (aka laugh) at me. But I've settled into the groove out here and have come to the conclusion that I might be able to stay out here after grad school is done...if I can survive one more winter.Other than that, most people who come looking for my profile know me, so anything I say would be unnecessary. But if you just stumbled upon this through some sort of stalking method, I can let you know that I am a pretty silly girl just trying to leave the world a little more happy than how I found it. Some days I want to talk about the philosophy of my planet I want to start (my room mate has thus labeled me a socialist, but I don't know what that means) and some days I just want to play GameCube. Sometimes I think about how I can change the world and other days I wonder if I should change my sheets. I read, I write, I paint. I laugh, I cry, I love. I wonder, I fear, I hope. That's about it.

My Interests

Lots of stuff. Harry Potter. Reading. Su Doku.

I'd like to meet:

Orlando Bloom or Jude Law only because they are hot.Few very people would get this, but I want to see Bennett Reimer and David Elliott in a cage fight. Okay, not really a cage fight. Just a music education philosophy debate. And I want Reimer to win.

Music:

Death Cab for Cutie, Killers, Tchaikovsky, Sinatra, Madonna, Moody Blues, Dave Matthews, Keane, Dvorak, Foo Fighters, Plain White T's, Augustana, Police, Journey, bad 80's, Billy Joel, U2, Motion City Soundtrack....lots of stuff.

Movies:

Little Miss Sunshine. Mr. Holland's Opus, Gattaca, Suicide Kings, Three Amigos, Rainman, Oceans 11 &13, anything with an Enterprise in it

Television:

Lost, Grey's Anatomy, Law and Order, CSI

Books:

I read a lot. Like a LOT. Some favorites in no order: Harry Potter, Enders Game, Agatha Christie, Crime and Punishment, Shakespeare, Time Traveler's Wife, Sophie's Choice, BFG, Bridge to Terabithia, Eragon and Eldest, Brave New World...

Heroes:

John Wood. This guy left a sweet job at Microsoft to start a non-profit that brings books and libraries to kids that have never seen books before. It is called Room to Read. For someone to give up everything material to try to make the world a better place...it's just remarkable. If everyone would do a little, so much good could happen. I hope to leave some (smaller) mark on the world before I leave this planet.
