building fires, reading, quilting, music, travel, dancing, laughing, cars (especially classic American cars and pre-68 VW buses), animals, nature, building stuff, taking stuff apart, fixing stuff, random acts of kindness, painting, sleeping, chocolate, driving, baking, activism, theatre, poetry, late night walks, sleeping in on rainy days, deep interaction, old heads, the outer banks, whiskey (but not too much, ugh), butterflies, true friends, real love, the truth (if there is such a thing)......
Dan Bern (SUCCESS! :( Its kinda sad though...like that guy that went down on Madonna...
next up:
Tom Robbins
Ani DiFranco, The Beatles, George Harrison, Dan Bern, Dan Bern, Dan Bern, Guns N Roses, Blind Melon, Metallica, Woody Guthrie, Ziggy Marley, Soul Asylum, Dead Prez, Smashing Pumpkins, Ella Fitzgerald, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Steve Miller Band, Fleetwood Mac, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Wyclef, Aerosmith, Pearl Jam (in moderation), did I mention Dan Bern?......I could go on forever. I'm into all different stuff...
Lately, I'm all about the documentaries. There is just way too much stuff to know about to waste my time with a lot of fiction. My brain never shuts up and it gets bored with Hollywood bullshit.
yuck. I tolerate television A) for the sake of other people who may be watching it B) EXTREME boredom. TV sucks your brain out.
Anything by Tom Robbins- he is a genius and a madman...I love him. LOTR Trilogy. Jack Kerouac. Alice Walker. Richard Dawkins, Operating Manual for Spaceship Earth: R. Buckminster Fuller, Be Here Now: Baba Ram Dass (Dr. Richard Alpert), The Unabomber Manifesto: Dr. Theodore Kaczynski, Scott Ritter, Frantz Fanon: The Wretched of the Earth, many, many others. Reading is most of what I do, but most of the books I read are in electronic form on the internet (reading the Unabomber Manifesto on a computer screen is the ultimate in irony). When I do read actual texts, used books are best...I love old books.
all the gnomes who work hard to bring us fresh vacuum packed products and accurate parking meters, Socrates, Hugo Chavez, Dr. Ali Shariati, Abbie Hoffman and the Yippies who didn't sell out, Nikola Tesla, Megan, the internet, people who bother to become truly informed before they begin spewing their baseless political opinions.
