I am a South African by birth. Born in Durban. My parents are from Belgium, which thankfully gives me that EU passport. Lived in South Africa till I was 24 years old. Just before I left South Africa I was in two minds whether to stay or to go to London. I was standing in the Durban Snake Park (I absolutely luv snakes) and was busy looking at these two beautiful baby boa constrictors. The idea was to buy a male and female and to start breading them. After a couple of hours banging away with the thoughts of should I or shouldn’t I, my mind was made up. The choice? London most definitely.
Arrived in London in February 1996. Met up with a mate that I had known in South Africa. It was then that I was introduced to clubbing London style. First party I went to was a promotion called Pendragon at Tyson Street Studios in Hackney. My favourite Dj’s there was definatly Mark Sinclair and then Jace, Juno, Oberon and many others. Actually Mark Sinclair is the one that inspired me to start mixing a few years later. I was a clubber for a good 4 years. Then there was Escape from Samsara at the Fridge in Brixton. They were my local hangouts in the beginning and absolutely loved the parties. Then there were the squat parties. Down right dirty Acid Techno with the likes of Chris Liberator, D.A.V.E. The Drummer, Gordy, Ant.
It was only in 2002 that I bought myself a pair of turntables and for a solid one year I practiced every single day for 2 – 4 hours per day. I got my first small opportunity with a promotion called Swamp thanks to Mattie C the promoter loving one of my demos. Was resident for them for nearly 3 years. Have to say a big thank you to Mattie for allowing me to grace the decks at there parties.
Well for the past 6 months I have decided to take a break from all the clubbing and Djing and to recharge the brain cells and to get myself healthy and fit. I have almost accomplished that goal and I am now starting to really itch to get back into the game. I think I would have to say that my biggest influence to get back into it is my brother Justin Time London. A bit of a reversal of influence.
Big thank you to all the promotions I have played at for the past 3 years.
