About Me

new stuff:

i've fallen in love with an italian fireball. she's broken all my rules.

i've learned to never say never (see above and below).

i got a puppy dog yancey, who i love so damn much. in an apparently crazed state, this former dog-disser paid for him at 2am on the humane society website! no worries, wildcat is surviving beautifully and even gets a brief yancey bath every now and then.

i finished my thesis (the very word sends chills up my spine) and put it on the shelf!

i might go to law school, or might might get a phd, and maybe i'll have just one job one day! full time!

i'm going on four years living in the rock and still loving it, but i have plans to move somewhere in the summer of '08. once a nomad...

i love to do these things:

listening to music and making mixes, reading, eating tasty food, dirty dancing at the club, chillin’ with wildcat and yancey, visiting my friends' farm, and hanging out talking politics or just laughing a lot. making all sorts of stuff. knitting addiction. used to be a painter!

BOONE PRIDE! I’m a founding member of Boone Pride, Inc., a not-for-profit GLBTIQ civic league. This year we’re starting a scholarship for local GLBTIQ youth! In community and solidarity, please come out and support Boone Pride June 8-9:

i hate to do these things:

clean the house (but i must), go to parties, eat fish or fowl, bag dog poo, sit on my butt and do nothing.

Those things I do for money:

well...i finished my Appalachian Studies MA in December and team-taught a kick ass new course last semester on diversity, whiteness, gender, class, etc. in Appalachia. my multi-job status is a bit of a paradox: teach about the evils of capitalism and mountain development some days and work as a realtor's assistant in a luxury resort town on others. yikes.
i'm also still working on the Allen High School Project recording oral histories of a boarding school for African American girls in Asheville, NC. lastly, i'm assistant to the book review editor of Gender & Society.

btdubbs: still working on the relaxation thing...

my sign:

Virgo sun, Gemini rising, Scorpio moon - there's a lot going on over here!

Oh, and guess where I'm from:

Thanks Mathias for this pomo queer KY contradiction! It's kinda crackin' me up.
