"Under the infinite HeX of Death"
The covenant of VIRULENT was formed in 1998 by guitarists René and Bert, and drummer Maarten.
The aim of the horde was what it is still today; the creation of extreme death metal in it's most ruthless, yet atmospheric form.
The name VIRULENT represents all the band stands for; Intensity,
Hostility and the powers of the Occult beyond all measures.
With the line-up completed by vocalist Jorre and bass player Ed, Virulent entered the Harrows studios
in June 2000 to record their debut MCD entitled "Under the HeX of Amdusias" for Skullcrusher records.
The MCD was received very well in magazines around the world as well as the Dutch underground, resulting in lots of gigs with established bands throughout the Netherlands. The band earned a reputation for their tight, yet energetic live performances.
In February 2002 the band recorded 3 new songs in 'studio Moskou' to be released as a promo
entitled "Azoth".
However, shortly after the recordings, the band parted ways with bass player Ed and vocalist Jorre, and the promotional purposes of this recording were never met.
A new member of the pact was found in Daniël 'Conan' Nak. With Daniël taking care of both bass and vocals, the band is more focussed and determined. At the end of 2004 the band started recording a
new promo titled "Prime of Naught".
Recorded by the band themselves at various locations, and mixed at the
famous Excess studio's, this new recordings shows the band at their most brutal, yet in a more diverse and modern way. With the focus on powerful songwriting, slower, ultra heavy parts are now blended in with their well known hyperspeed blasts, creating a fresh and diverse sound, while allowing
the splendid musical capacities of the musicians to shine through.
