About Me

I'm a simple man with simple tastes, my friend. I enjoy a quiet night in, being kind (in all respects), a touch of live music, a good vodka tonic, and the companionship of furry creatures. That is not to say I am a "Furry", which would hint at an infactuation with people in animal costumes; no, that's not me.
Random things that sum up my general overview of the world: I'm not such a fan of the new Indiana license plates, but I'm not looking to start a debate over the seperation of Church & State - that battle was lost a long time ago. Burt Bacarach needs to just stop. Donavon Frankenreiter is the shit. You should really check him out. I, at one time in my life, spent many hours practicing the nasal inhalation and oral extraction of condoms ala the Jim Rose Circus Sideshow. I no longer do that. I smoke American Spirits because I would like to believe there are no chemical additives, even though I know very well they are owned by a major tobacco conglomerate who just can't wait to find new ways to control my addiction. Speaking of which, I distrust any major corperation and the executives who run them - once you reach a certain financial level, it's nearly impossible to not forget about the needs and wants of the average household, and nearly impossible to not cheat them when given a chance. This would lead you to believe that I am somewhat cynical, and you would be correct. I'm wondering if Dick Cheney should be tried for treason for uttering the words "Donald Rumsfeld is the best Secretary of Defense this country has ever seen". Yes, he SAID that! I think that some of the best guitarists we've seen are now dead. I also believe that some of the best guitarists alive we've never heard of. I believe in the stregnth of a good toothbrush. Christina Aguliera gives me funny feelings in my tummy, but that's not to say that I dig the tunes. I think 99.9% of politicians got into it for the wrong reasons. I tie my shoes (if applicable). I think women look good in professional garb (and I don't mean latex on the nipples). I think most theologins have it all wrong. I think the Triscuit wafer is quite possibly the world's most perfect food. I feel most comfortable in my Adidas. I hate wearing ties. I usually go commando (and will do the pose if you ask me). I try to be nice to everybody, even if I don't respect them, which seems really dishonest (I figure anyone can be redeemed). My parents have the most unusual relationship I have ever seen. I think video games probably take up way too much of my time, but I don't really care. I don't play my guitar enough, period. If my entire wardrobe could be black without being called a Johnny Cash rip-off, I would probably do it. I think some people do deserve to die, despite my distaste for our corporal punishment system. Although I don't necessarily "believe" in it, I still try to keep my Karma on the good side. I believe someday I will trade in my VTX for a Road King. I also think doing so is completely unnecessary, and won't happen for quite a while. I think the next guitar I buy will be a Telecaster in natural. I believe you should check out Stone Soup every Wednesday night at the Big Eyed Fish, especially if you're looking for a reason to give up on your musical career.

My Interests

Music, gaming, politics, film. Also really digging on the whole derby girl thing - I'm reffing under the name "BaD ReF.utation". Go to their MySpace page or www.fwderbygirls.com for more info.

I'd like to meet:

What, dead people, living people, people here? Not looking for anyone specific, but I get along with most. As for dead folks, I would like to meet Lennon, Lenin, and Lemmon. Living folks - GWB, so I can simply say "Dude, what the fuck!?".

Music:

Ben Folds (Five and non), Clem Snide, Drive By Truckers, Steely Dan, Son Volt, Wilco, Tool, Neil Young, Pink Floyd, Cream, Clapton, Elton John, Billy Joel, Cake, Beatles, Zeppelin, Jane's Addiction, Morphine, Brian Wilson, Foo Fighters, Allman Brothers, Gov't Mule, anything by Kevin Hambrick, Dead, Rush, etc.....

Movies:

The Departed!!! Raising Arizona, The Big Lebowski, Fargo, Miller's Crossing (or almost anything else from Joel and Ethan), Pulp Fiction, Resovoir Dogs, Memento, Fight Club, Almost Famous, Ghost World, American Beauty, Bottle Rocket, State & Main, House Of Games, Heist, The Spanish Prisoner (Mammet is awesome!), Chasing Amy, Star Wars, LOTR, Big Fish, Etc.....

I held out too, but it really does change the way you watch, and it ensures that you will spend less overall time, but more quality time, in front of the TV.

Books:

Currently reading an advanced copy of the Warren Zevon biography "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead". Sweet dreams, Sandy.

My Blog

So long, Funk

I distinctly remember the first time I saw him. 13 years ago. Just a tiny little white furball with black spots. The cutest little dog ever, with a huge personality, even at 8 weeks old. He was laying...
