'...Musical refreshment for the soul...'

About Me

•••••••••• July the 1st saw the band celebrate their first anniversary as a gigging four piece. As we know, a year can be a long time in the music industry…Holed up in a once booming, but now defunct, mining complex in the darkest depths of Staffordshire; the band have worked tirelessly. As a result Guile have evolved a brand of loud and proud rock n’ roll narkotika not to be denied. Taking in elements of ‘the Jesus and Mary Chain’, ‘the Velvet Underground’, ‘Dead Meadow’, ‘Johnny Cash’, ‘Echo and the Bunnymen’ and ‘the Doors’; Guile’s sound is a twisted, swaggering wall of white noise they can proudly and rightfully call their own.The bands live sound has been further honed, due to an independent and retrospective ethos towards gigging. Throughout April and May the band completed their second tour. This time a massive six week, 30-night tour covering all of the UK. One of the bands idols, Spacemen 3 were at one such gig and have publicly praised the band, stamping their approval on the eventual heirs to the psychedelic crown.Such a retrospective gigging ethos in the cyber age is refreshing, more so, the gigging is paying off and the band have enjoyed playing to a loyal fan base across the UK, in places as far North as Inverness and as South as Brighton.Guiles formidable live reputation goes before them. Last August the band supported 'the Howling Bells' at their request; one of only two sell outs on the Australians headline tour. Guile have also supported ‘Neils Children’, ‘ We Are Scientists’, ‘Stephen Fretwell’, ‘the ‘5 o’clock Heroes’, ‘Amusement Parks on Fire’, with a Departure support to come in October. So it’s no surprise that the band is busier than ever and is returning with another huge tour taking in esteemed venues across the UK and returning to the places that they turned into a home from home last time round.Recording duties with the ever-supportive Gavin Monaghan continue to be auspicious; it’s clearly a relationship that is working. Guile’s debut E.P. has enjoyed a number of plaudits all round from press and radio. The tour will be backed by the independent release of the promotional CD; A side ‘Love Around Here’ and B side ‘the Horizon,’ which displays yet another unique and exciting side to a truly diverse band.••••••••••FULL PRESS CUTTINGS

Sounds Like: E.P. REVIEW Hearing Aid Blog "...(a) cool line in Doors-y stoner rock. When they hit their stride on tracks like How Long it all comes together really well...."Sandman Magazine (Aug '07) "...It sounds best if you let the sound breathe and release it into a full room, maybe even the whole house. Sod the neighbours, their musical tastes are in need of an upgrade anyway. It all seems deceptively simple when you hear it, and hear it you should. This lot will not be ignored..."Spacemen 3's Pete "Bassman" Baines "...Rock n Roll with a nice tight amphetamine flavour, tempered with the dark nihilistic of the bed sit stoner. A great debut which i hope gets them the attention they deserve..."Sascha for Beat Surrender (live review) "...an immense slab of apocalyptic rock, which hypnotizes everyone in the room..."Live 4 Metal "...I changed my mind about half a dozen times whether to review this EP, mainly as it's not Metal, but I kept hearing little snippets that convinced me..."Subba Cultcha "...bleeding guitars, Primal Scream-stooge-ism, and Oasis' knack for melody-righteous rock n roll at it's beastly best....."The Mayfair Mall "...a mix of driving guitars on some tracks and more subtle statements on others, which gives the band a whole spectrum of sounds and bands to be compared with the likes of Jesus And Mary Chain to Radiohead on one extreme and The Doors and Bob Dylan on another, such is the diversity of the band....."Lichfield Mercury Interview "...you put all these influences in your head and then come out with something that's your own...I love all the psychedelic 60s and 70s vibes which we try to replicate by recording with as much vintage equipment as we can...."UK Music Search "...swaggering, dark swamp rock from Cannock four piece Guile, the ROCK N’ ROLL EP continues their mission to deal out sinister rock moves set against grimy guitar drones and tense atmospherics. !..."Selby Times "...that same filthy underbelly feeling that smothers you in so many Velvet Underground tracks. It's dirty and degrading, but you can't help but be drawn in. There's definitely more to be heard of this talented band. Watch this space!..."Beat Surrender "..."a great EP from a band that seem to be going from strength to strength and must soon get that obligator deal"..."Penny Black Music "...definately a band to watch..."Keith Woodhouse @ Delta FM "...I can honestly say that these are the best tracks that I've heard in a long time, I'd like to hear more, it's like BRMC meets the VU..."Space Rock "...Guile are without doubt one of the most promising rock bands I've heard in years, 4 out of 5....."FULL PRESS
