MUTILADOR is a death metal group that initiated in San Jose California in 1992.
Ernesto Tinoco is the founder of this group in the beginning he went through several bands back in México City with his school teacher as a strong influence.
His teacher has a group of his own which is called Fright Full Cross, a black metal band. Beyond Venom or Bathory Ernesto introduced himself in the black metal madness sadistic scene after several concerts. He met Alberto Pimentel from the group Tansmetal who invited him to participate in a project called Leprosy, contributing with some of the songs and also collaborating with the group Inquisidor with the album Escupe la Biblia (Spit the Bible).
Ernesto always tried to develop his own musical ideas influenced by the metal bands of the 80's this influences are reflected today in his actual music and that is how Black Palace was born. This is the name of his first group which didn't transcend because of several reasons including the difference of ideology of the members of the group and the lack of support towards it.
Ernesto didn't give up. He kept trying to find new members for a new group that he called Mutilador. The members of this group were Ernesto Tinoco as the guitar and the singer of the group, Edgar Tinoco as the bass and Martin Oros in the drums. They stared working in the original songs adding up some modern touches but never losing that influence of the 80's bands that got him there in the first place. They started to play in the Bay Area.
In 1993 Alex Baza gets in as the new member of the group (as the new singer) and he added power and presence to the band. With this new addition they recorded their first demo but sadly Martin, the drum player, had to leave the group due to personal reasons. After the loss of the drum player, Ernesto started to look for a new player that would cope with the style and the way the group thinks but with the impetus and aggressively behavior that the Mutilador group required, Manuel joined after a few months of playing with the group and then suddenly had to leave the band.
For several years the lack of a drum player led to the instability of the group plus the responsibility of finishing other compromises acquired though the prior years. Ernesto had to change the guitar position to play the drums, Edgar had to play the guitar and with the help of a guest musician on the bass. The group went on. These changes had to be made in order to fulfill the compromises they had through the years but always trying to improve the group.
After several concerts played on the Bay Area Ernesto met Jose Melgarejo and Jorge Rodrigues, who later on get added to the group giving definition to the band. The final lineup of Mutilador is now Ernesto plays the lead guitar, Jose plays the second guitar Edgar plays the bass, Jorge plays the drums. After lots of concerts they recorded their third CD maintaining the style and essence of the group with more structure in the music and more participation of the band members, maintaining its roots and original style that led them to form Mutilador in the first place.
