"Once" is the sweetest movie I have seen lately. Love it! Just saw "Into the Wild", an excellent and very beautiful film. Planes Trains and Automobiles is one of my all -time favorites... always makes me laugh and cry. I love and never tire of The Producers. It is so hilarious! Some of my faves: Baghdad Cafe, Donnnie Darko, Girl on the Bridge, Breakfast At Tiffany's, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon,The Crazy Stranger from the Gyspy Tilogy, Scent Of Green Papaya, Eat Drink Man Woman, Cider House Rules, The Other, Wait Until Dark, and David Lynch's Blue Velvet.....and so many more Current movies I have seen and love: Khandahar, I Heart Huckabees, Me You and Everyone Else We know, Brokeback Mountain, Capote, The Squid and the Whale, The Same River Twice. Borat was so strange, so gutsy! Did not like Science Of Sleep that much, so magical but dissapointing. Pieces of April is so sweet! I just saw one of the most beautiful, powerful, and stirringly simple films I have seen: Cave of the Yellow Dog, from Mongolia. The cinematography is breathtaking! This film inspired me ( well, want-wish) to believe in reincarnation and live in Mongolia with a family like this in my next life! Finally saw Fire Walk With Me... loved the lighting and the eerie, ethereal depiction of good and evil that exist in every small town life and within all of us. David Lynch is brilliant. Now I think even more of the perplexing Lynch. I just saw Inland Empire and am in the midst of absorbing it now. The new Coen Brothers film, No Country For Old Men, was tough to watch yet amazing. I was so touched by "The Namesake"... immersed me in such a good story.
Been there, done that. When that was: Twin Peaks, Sex and the City, Cheers, The Cosby Show, Sesame Street, Zed TV, and many more. Now: YouTube
Of course, like every other woman in this country, I am reading Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. I just finished a fascinating book: The lady and the Panda, which is a true story about a socialite from the 1930's who dares to go deep into China to capture a baby panda bear! Recently read Anil's Ghost, by Michael Ondaatje... Quite beautifully written about Sri Lankas's civil war. It seems like I've been reading "Reading Lolita In Tehran" forever. The author is passionate about teaching literature and I am learning a lot about Islam. Snow Flower and the Secret Fan captivated me and gave me yet another diverse, poetic, and realistic glimpse into the world of Chinese women. There are so many great books to read! White Teeth by Zadie Smith is so witty, snappy, and true. At last I read Lolita...ooh is it a beautifully written, amazing, intoxicating, disturbing, brilliant, seductive, and provoking book! I love travel literature too, especially by Pico Iyer and the Lonely Planet series. Just a few of my favorites: Chronicles of Narnia, An Unexpected Light, Ordinary Wolves, William Faulkner, Flannery O'Conner, Anchee Min,...
Good Moms!
