Bass Players - the real badass people in bands, except when they're using more than four strings on their thunderstick, that's a "don't" for me (in rock'n'roll, I'm not talking about Jazz players). Drummers who do the vocals while drumming and/or former drummers who moved in front and became the lead vocalist or BASS PLAYER.Oh, did I mention that I'm obsessed with bass players.

Who and what is a hero?Anyway what follows now is simply a "Thank you" to those people who taught me to love the sound of the four-sting instrument in rock music. Here it comes:Paul McCartney (got to admit it, a great bass player), Bill Wyman, John "The OX" Entwistle, Pete Quaife, Brian Wilson, Ronnie "Plonk" Lane, John Dalton, Noel Redding, Roger Waters (as a bass player, other than that forgetable), Ace "the Face" Kefford, (Cream-era )Jack Bruce, Mike Davis, Dave Alexander and Ron Asheton, Dennis Dunaway, Geezer Butler, John Paul Jones (not a big Zep fan, but their rhythm section was cool), LEMMY, Dee Dee Ramone, (earlier) Tina Weymouth, Steve Diggle, Dave Allen, Peter Hook, Youth & Paul Raven, Captain Sensible, Jah Wobble, Chuck Dukowski, Mike Watt, Clint Conley, Kira Roessler, Cris Kirkwood, Greg Norton, Tommy Stinson, Kim Gordon, Jeff Pezzati & Dave Riley, David Wm. Sims, Michael "King of Sex" Gerald, Keith Brammer, Jim Tillman, Rex Everything and his various incanations, Matt Bischoff, Van Conner, Kurt Danielson, Hiro & Ben, Kim Deal, Krist Novoselic (sort of) and Matt Lukin...plus thousands of other people who let the deep sound circulate, including Christoph and Stefan (you know who you are!)..and Willie Dixon.
