About Me

Kurt's musical/life history, entitled "THE ENDLESS BLURB," which used to appear here, has migrated to the Blog so that it doesn't take up so much space on this page. If you're interested in reading about TAD (some funny tour anecdotes), BUNDLE of HISS, VALIS, or THE QUARANTEENS, that's the place to go.Kurt has just migrated himself: from Paris back to the Seattle area, where he might or might not remain. He is still working on his book ("Amnesomnia," which has now been subtitled, "The Escape from the Rue Saint Denis"). It's a fictional account of one man's attempt to escape from his own subconscious underworld; it's a real trick for him, because he doesn't realize he's trapped there. In a way, it's a twisted retelling of the Orpheus myth, which implies that he makes a deal with the devil and violates its terms, thereby risking the loss of the only things he has left to lose: his girl and his life. This all goes on while he is consciously trying to escape from several other kinds of underworlds--drugs, crime, sex, et al. The story is set in Paris, where Kurt lived for 4 years and taught English; and it moves also to the Puget Sound area, where Kurt once drove a taxi and where he also worked as a process server, not to mention as a musician, collecting material all the while. He's currently working on the second draft, and it's a tight, plot & dialog driven first person narrative related in the asbestos atmosphere of a fictional noir world: he invented the genre himself, and he calls it a "Heroin Noir," heroin and drugs in general being a subject Kurt unfortunately knows all about. With this story, he builds suspense and tension that never get resolved: it is an anxious tale with a constantly climbing blood pressure that just might blow up in your face at any moment. Cheers!
