About Me

Come see my Mary Kay website

Who am I? The age old question that everyone (or nearly everyone) hates to answer. Here's the basic stuff about me...I'm 30 years old, just moved back to Bethany, MO (NW part of the state). I'm a mom of 2 kids, and working full time at Pizza Hut as a shift manager. I'm currently a senior at Liberty University working my BS in Business Management. I'm single, yet again...can't seem to find a guy that can treat me right. Not that it bothers me to be alone, it's just hard to go through life's up and downs without a convenient shoulder to cry on or someone to celebrate with...not to mention someone to cuddle with on those cold winter nights.
Volunteer Work - I rejoined the Girl Scouts of America in '03 as a Troop Leader, and served 4 years in that position. I then became the Positive Power Captain of our local service unit in '05. FYI, Positive Power in Mid-Continent Council's program that gives girls a sense of self-worth and knowledge of healthy relationships in order to reduce the number of domestic violence victims, it also collects donations for local battered women's shelters every February. At Farmers Insurance, I was a member of the Partners in Pride committe which actively collected and donated items & money for March of Dimes, Boys & Girls Club, El Centro, and the Olathe Food Pantry. My current volunteer work and social action groups are as follows:
I hope this information has helped you understand all that makes Becca who she is...of course that goes along with the info there to the left about my interests. :) Thanks for reading!

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Music:

Music is a passion in my life. My parents listened to old country and music from the late 50's through mid-60's, so I really enjoy listening to some of that (have you ever heard the song "Don't Mess With My Toot-toot"???). I myself really began to branch out on my own in the mid to late 80's and love to listen to music from then through the late 90's. Around '92, I began listening to Garth Brooks which sent me on a modern country kick. Since then, I've begun listening to a wide variety of music including hard rock, hair bands, anything with a great beat you can dance to, opera, instrumentals, classical, some rap (mostly Eminem), and even have been to a death metal and a gothabilly concert.
In addition to that, I began playing clarinet in the 5th grade ('86) and developed a strong love for symphony music and big band sounds.
In summary, I have a healthy appreciation for ALL types of music. I believe music is an extension of the soul and can be one of the most beautiful expressions that a human can create.

Movies:

Star Wars, The Princess Bride, Deep Impact, The X-Files, The Muppet Movie, Hercules, The Mummy Returns, Neverending Story, The Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, A Time to Kill, The Day After Tomorrow, National Treasure, Kingdom of Heaven, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Chronicles of Narnia, Memoirs of a Geisha, The Preacher's Wife, Ice Age 2: The Meltdown.
In general, I really enjoy any movie that has a religious theme, is a real tear jerker, makes you really think, has some sort of natural disaster, has Matthew McConaughey or Orlando Bloom in it, or is a fantasy-type movie. I also like romance movies and those movies that were based on books (except Dean Koontz's books-to-movies, they really haven't found a director that could completely grasp Koontz's vision...or that of his devout readers).

Television:

Law and Order, The Closer, Cold Case, CSI, Ghost Hunters

Books:

Anything by Dean Koontz....he's the best author around!

Heroes:

Who's a hero really?
Two of the most influential people in my life were teachers...Mr. Snozikowsi and Mr. Jarrett. They both encouraged me to do my best in everything that I did and made me realize the talents that I have (Mr. S - debate and academics, Mr. J - instrumental music).
Of the people in the public eye...there is no specific person. Anyone who stands up for what is right in the face of adversity - Rosa Parks, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Anyone who can smile and lend a hand to someone in need - Mother Theresa, Princess Diana. Anyone who can deny all worldly things and most sins to be closer to God - the Pope or the Saints. Anyone who can say yes to the angelic face of a child in need of a home - Angelina Jolie. Anyone who can look at a group of people and realize a need to be fulfilled by a social interest group - Juliette Gordon Low, found of Girl Scouts.

Look around you and you can always find a hero...
