We live in a beautiful world, yeah we do, yeah we do. - Coldplay: Don't Panic -

About Me

* * * Rational scientist prone to nostalgia. Yes, I'm very ashamed of it. Plausible deniability, people! But worry not, I don't have a romantic bone in my body, I'm one of those hideous things called a realist... * * * Subtle hints are wasted with me. And here I thought that would be refreshing but apparently people want mind readers. I Do Not Read Minds. * * * Personal motto: Everything is possible but what is probable? * * * Since I'm not here to tell you in person, use your peepers to find out more. Part of the truth is out there in the blog. The rest? Well, you'll just have to find out yourself. * * * The only thing that lasts longer than a friend's love is the stupidity that keeps us from knowing any better. - Randy K. Milholland - * * *

My Interests

Summer! The smell of freshly cut grass, the sun (the warmth and light, not the burning!), swimming, wind in my hair. Slaying monsters on a computer (real life ones beware!), games (Scrabble, Yatzy, Uno, Monopoly), jigsaw puzzles, mahjong, laughing and chatting with friends, watching movies with annoying audio commentary with co-conspirators, playing badminton. Anyone with a wicked sense of humor!

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who makes me think or laugh. Preferably at the same time! Perhaps more than once in a decade, too. If it is not too much to ask, use actual means of communication as I really do not read minds. Don't be shy either, you never know what you might find. And it's not true that stroking a cat against the hair kills it. It might kill you... real editor best profile tools real editor best profile tools

Music:

Alternative and indie rock, golden oldies, The Cure, Nick Drake, RHCP, U2, Coldplay. Not so fond of neojazz, rockabilly or blues but I'll live, probably. Sob into your beer, don't tell me about it!

Movies:

LOTR, computer animations, Hayao Miyazaki's animations, sci-fi, action, comedy... Basically everything but longwinded syrupy romances. Off with their heads!

Television:

Original Star Trek, Cold Case, The Simpsons, Pink Panther cartoons, CSI, science documentaries. Hooray for BBC and HBO!

Books:

Alastair Reynolds, Iain M. Banks, Dan Simmons, Terry Pratchett, J.R.R. Tolkien, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Many, many more. There is no such thing as having too many books. E-books? Egads, NO!!! Erm... I do have one, actually. LOTR of course.

Heroes:

Sir David Attenborough, Spock (Oh come on, who doesn't love Spock?!), Sherlock Holmes, Fox Mulder, Calvin and Hobbes, Indiana Jones, Super Goofy

Riders in the storm

Lately there's been like zillion things wrong with MySpace. It's hard to access certain functions, like getting to your mail is a hassle. Now it is impossible to change your profile song. Quite frankl...

Picture perfect

Once again it has been proven people should never say never because it never works...  I was so adamantly against putting my real life mug shot up here for everyone to see and what do I do? I cav...

Truth tellers and misery dwellers

You don't mean nothing at all to me. I don't think there are words more hurtful to be heard here on earth. We can take people being angry at us, we can take them hating us, we can take them calling us...

Why do all good things come to an end?

I don't think there is a human alive on this planet who enjoys the end of things. End is change and we tend to object to change. Better the misery you know than a whole new one? Enjoy what you've got ...

Image is everything?

Image is everything, they say. And who is this all important "they" in the end but all of us. As we are scrutinized about everything day in and day out starting with the way we look, is it any wonder ...

We live in a beautiful world

I've been feeling strangely nostalgic and, yes, god forbid and forgive!, mushy lately. Like I have a heart after all. A heart I can actually confess of doing other things than pumping blood to my body...

Through the lens

Goodness gracious, development and civilized inventions have finally reached my remote Bengal jungle in form of a digital camera. The weapon of choice for the paparazzi, the magical instrument turning...

The Century Blog

7 months later this is my 100th blog. Quite impressive considering how little I have anything of any importance to say. Perhaps 3 people in the whole wide world have read all of these little ramblings...

Weekend warriors

Ah, the mythical and worshipped weekend. The few precious days when people are allowed to be who they are and to do what they want without being bound by the norms of our beloved fellow men. Aka screw...

Crawling through the grapevine

Ah, nowadays when nothing else seems to work, threaten to go public with it! I've been trying to phone a doctor's appointment for 3 days now and as soon as I threaten to write an angry blog about it, ...
