Ape Island Yacht Club

elite secret society of creative artists

About Me

Founded in 1823, by a caravan of sea-faring gypsy ships, the Ape Island Yacht Club has held the standard of class on the high seas since the day it was founded. The gypsy group, led by a Brazilian man named Maginol Maiz, was converted from a rag-tag group of scam-artist pirates into a golf-ball putting, chamomille-tea-sipping group of elite artists, who began spending their time in pursuit of something more fullfilling than thievery. Originally named The Very Dangerous Weasels (which sounds much more threatening in their native gypsy tongue) the Weasels would board merchant ships on the high seas peacefully, tricking the opposite crew into thinking they came as friends. As their time together came to an end, however, and the Weasels were on their way, the merchant ship crew would find their pockets and man-purses empty: taken by the very guests they had so recently entertained. "How could a crew so clever and diabolical turn into the most high-classiest group of sailors on the seven-seas?", asked Gunderson Rollsworth of the London Journal. Our answer is as follows... One fateful morning, The Very Dangerous Weasels were sailing through a small channel of Indonesian islands on their way back out to the high seas. After a few hours, their compass began to spin out of control and fog began to flood their poop deck. Flustered, they struggled mightily as great winds blew their ship onto a beach, who's coordinates were never before known to any living man. Beaten, they began to unload rations and make-shift shelters for the night, which was speedily arriving, only to be interrupted by a mysterious voice, which said..."You'll not need those things here..." Suddenly on the beach, in the midst of the crew of sailors stood a small man, with a soft voice. "I am Chandresh Naryan, but my friends call me Walker." "Like the Texas Ranger?" asked Maginol. The little man did not answer. The next 7 months were spent on this mysterious "Ape Island" (as Chandresh liked to call it) in the training of the rough and tricky crew concerning their manners. Chandresh taught them how to treat a lady, how to eat properly at a table, how to entertain guests. They each also learned how to dance and paint and play at various instruments. After their intense training, they were ready to repent of their wrong-doings and bring class back to the seven seas. To this day, it is the mission of each member of the Ape Island Yacht Club to creatively enrich the lives of his mates, his fellow sea-goers and future generations. The job of these modern-day renaisannce-men is not easy, but somewhere, somehow, someone has got to do it! The coordinates to Ape Island are known only by a select few, and are hidden to the rest of the world. Are you up to the challenge of joining the Ape Island crew? Can you be trusted with the ever-coveted coordinates? Look within yourself and find out!
