The US Marine Corps
One Man’s War follows the story of a New York City gang member Doug Hulbert, who, in the 1960’s, was given a choice between going to jail and going to the Marine Corps. He chooses the Corps and his life is changed forever. The play follows Doug from Boot Camp through his tour of duty in Vietnam. Through Doug’s experiences we are given a firsthand account of how the military prepares a young man mentally and physically to handle the brutalities of war. The audience is privy to the innermost thoughts, feelings and actions of young men who are sent into war by their leaders and who return home to the scorn and abandonment of their fellow Americans
