Beckett, Balthus and baths, a lovely Gill Sans, I used to only love colographs but am now a lino-printing envangelist, Canford card in Azure Blue, Dreadnought Grey and Gunmetal, early Ian McEwan with all of the smell of the canal and the heat or a freezing cold Berlin, good black dresses, good navy blue dresses, Charlotte Gainsbourg's hairdo and jawline, slowdancing down the social club, half-remembered Glasgow of the late 1980s as the sun set down Great Western Road, my mum meeting Lloyd Cole in Warehouse (why he was there one can only hazard a guess, or she might be lying), gentleness, beauty, the space between two peoples' wrists, dust caught in the light, watching Picnic at Hanging Rock in a grey faux-silk dressing gown on a summer evening, drinking a good red.
