Computers, I grew up with them and would be a much more introverted person if it wasn't for being able to talk to people online with no consequences.

Seeing friends, it's clichéd but I go crazy if I don't.

Digital video and HDTV, because I'm an adorable dork.

Animation and occasionally drawing: I'll get better at drawing some day, but right now I find good animated movies really nice to look at (I do mean good ones though, bad animation is seriously crummy). I love a lot of old stuff because it's of much higher quality, especially Tex Avery's MGM shorts. Stuff that's made using similar ideas (almost anything Spumco) gets included in that too. I'm a huge Ren & Stimpy fan, except for the ones that Nickelodeon made themselves after firing John K - those were just crap more often than not.

I don't think music defines me, I just love listening to it. Nevertheless, some of the stuff I have on my MP3 player comes from the fine people from Angelspit, Aerosmith, Ataris, The Avalanches, Bad Religion, Blue Oyster Cult, Cheap Trick, Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, Disturbed (hehe), Everything But The Girl, Fenix*TX, Initial D (j-pop!), Less than Jake (so so summery!), KMFDM, New Order, Peaches, In This Moment , Rob Zombie, Stardust, The Pixies, and Van Halen. I'm sure there's more that I can't remember.

North by Northwest, Thirteen, Toy Story (I have amazing memories of going to see this one when in 1995... and then for my birthday I got it on video and DEMANDED the widescreen letterboxed version... I was a video geek back then too, ahh nostalgia...), Resident Evil (nope, I didn't think it was shit), Silent Hill (ditto), Lilo & Stitch (really pretty sweet), if I'm in the right mood Manos: The Hands of Fate (for being the worst film ever made - seriously, worse than Gigli), Pocahontas (I think I'm the only one who actually liked it, but this was like my film of Summer 2005, it had a brilliant score so shut up :p) and Lost in Translation (not because of any pretentious artsy reason, just because I think cities at night are pretty and Japan is interesting to me).

Brass Eye - for being awkward and right on the money, Ren & Stimpy (Spumco episodes, not the Nickelodeon made ones) - for saving TV cartoons and having sometimes ridiculously good animation Scrubs - I can't help but sort of relate with JD... Older Simpsons - before it became a walk-on show for guest actors Invader ZIM - the closest thing there is to great old-style Nickelodeon, plus it has some "why is that so funny!" moments Garth Marenghi's DarkPlace - I salute anyone who can make a TV show that's corny on purpose and hilarious rather than just coming out as bad. Home Movies - the drawings are horrible but I don't care, the voice acting is great! It's an acquired taste to be sure, I hated it at first but then became strangely attached to it so much so that I own all the DVDs!

Psychonauts (Xbox/PS2)... the beginning of Summer 2005, amazing memories. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii) - 480p or not, this is so gorgeous and well designed that it looks better than most HD games. And the story totally sucked me in too. Super Mario World (the best game ever made IMO - SNES) - the pixel art is just amazing when you consider that they must have plotted each one by hand rather than drawing and scanning, they fit so much visual style into tiny little blocks, and the way that everything reacts to the rhythm of the music like an old cartoon makes it so appealing to play. Yoshi's Island (SNES) - it was damn brave of them to use a visual style like that, and it worked Super Smash Bros Melee (Cube) - some of the graphics are still amazing and it's Nintendo all over. Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (Cube) - say what you want, I loved the visuals and even if you didn't, the Zelda feeling is still all there. Day of the Tentacle (PC) - Chuck Jones style backgrounds and great puzzley fun? Check! Sam & Max (PC) - LucasArts gold... it's all moderny and Americanny. Just brilliant. Monkey Island Series (except the 4th - PC) Tetris (anything, but I love the DS version :D) Shenmue (DC) - took a few hours but man did I grow to love this game, closest thing there is to a real-life sim that isn't boring. Jet Set Radio (DC) - Dreamcast classics! Aladdin (SNES Capcom verison, the other one had nothing on it) - did you know that this was designed by the same guy that would later go on to design Resident Evil? Weird when you think about it... a real shame Capcom don't have the Disney license any more. Knuckles' Chaotix (32x) - garish as hell but has some great tunes. Even if being connected to the other character with a ring did feel like being tethered. Sonic the Hedgehog 1,2,3 (MegaDrive) Phantasy Star Online (DC) Sonic Advance 1&2 (GBA)

I read "The Catcher in the Rye" once and really liked that but don't read much. But I like some comics (Jhonen Vasquez' stuff mainly): Squee, Johnny the Homicial Maniac, and most of all, I Feel Sick.

John Kricfalusi, Tim Schafer, Jhonen Vasquez, and John Lasseter.

Status: Single
Here For: Friends
Orientation: Fuck knows. Some people can be very kinky looking, regardless of gender, but I'm interested in so few girls and what seems like even less guys. So, asexual with bisexual tendencies? The categorisation is getting silly, isn't it...

This vagueness does NOT mean that I am "sexually confused". It means I've actually thought about it and have come to the conclusion that I don't really care.
Hometown: Glasgow
Body Type: 6'4" and now actually pretty thin
Ethnicity (ha ha!): White/Caucasian
Religion: None (Atheist)
Zodiac Sign: Scorpio
Smoke/Drink: No/Yes
Children: No plans.
Occupation: Library skiver and student layabout

I've worked for the University of Strathclyde, Paramount Pictures, and I'm a hardware specialist for DVDTimes.co.uk.

I used to go to Bearsden Academy (ha ha!) and now I'm at Glasgow University.

Hello! I am David. People tell me I'm easy to talk to and really nice and stuff, and I don't see why they would make a point of lying about it. So we shall assume that this is true!

I am a dorky boy who loves A/V stuff, as well as video games (but I have some pretty specific tastes there). I've done video work for Paramount (on an upcoming Ren & Stimpy box set) and I'm a hardware reviewer for DVD Times (www.dvdtimes.co.uk) which means that I get to put HDTVs and HD DVD/BD players through my usual grilling on a fairly regular basis. If you're tech-inclined then you can click here to see the equipment I've put through my grilling.

Oh and sorry to sound like a prick, but if you're a band looking to add me to your friends list so you can only use me as promotion, don't bother. Thanks!

TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF - The Survey
Name: David Mackenzie
Birthday: November 3 1986
Birthplace: Glasgow
Current Location: Glasgow
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: It's still brown. Only now I am putting blond gel in it instead of red.
Height: 6'3" or 6'4", I'm not sure which. I am tall.
Right Handed or Left Handed: Right
Your Heritage: Doesn't matter and is out of my control anyway
The Shoes You Wore Today: My second pair of Vans that look the same as last years'
Your Weakness: I can sometimes be a little shy and pessimistic. I'm not good at telling people who are being shitty to me to fuck off. I can be very paranoid, it's not common but it can happen sometimes. If somebody hits on me I usually think they're kidding unless they are 100% to the point about it (this is the kind of person I like best).
Your Fears: I don't really have many long-lasting fears. Loud noises scare me but that's not really worth typing in here, haha.
Your Perfect Pizza: Shrooms and herbs from good old Dominos
Goal You Would Like To Achieve This Year: I never set any goals for myself and usually end up acheiving some anyway, so I just wait and see what happens.
Your Most Overused Phrase On an instant messenger: "LOL" "haha" "hehe"
Thoughts First Waking Up: Fuccccckkkk, what can I do to make this warm snugglyness last for a little longer?
Your Best Physical Feature: Haha, I'm not the biggest fan of my physical features. When my skin is OK though there's nothing I dislike about my nose though which is surprising given how I can scrutinize and critique absolutely everything.
Your Bedtime: Weekend nights it can be around 3-4, in the summer it all goes to shit and can be at about 7.
Your Most Missed Memory: None, I have a ton of REALLY good memories (and I reminisce more than is healthy) but I remember them so well I don't miss any of them and there's always great new ones.
Pepsi or Coke: I'd originally have said Pepsi but now I'm off the stuff entirely. What a difference a year makes huh?
MacDonalds or Burger King: Neither, because I am a veggy.
Single or Group Dates: I'm not too into the dating idea much to be honest... it just seems old fashioned?
Lipton Ice Tea or Nestea: Neitherrrrrr!
Chocolate or Vanilla: La chocolate
Cappuccino or Coffee: Cappuccino has more to it, I guess
Do you Smoke: Nope, but my weakness is that if someone sticks a cigarette in my mouth when I'm drunk I will probably take a puff. The sad truth is that I think smoking makes people look hot.
Do you Swear: I use "blasphemous" words that people think would offend their imaginary friend if he were listening, but I don't use words that demean actual real people with real feelings (ex: n*gger, f*ggot)
Do you Sing: Nope
Do you Shower Daily: Yeah, I feel paranoid if I don't. Don't most people shower daily?
Have you Been in Love: Yessssss.... I love a few people now, but it isn't that kind of love. If you love someone, you can love 'em in a totally innocent way as a best friend, it doesn't have to end in bed.
Do you want to go to College: I'm at university
Do you want to get Married: No plans.
Do you belive in yourself: Very very much so yes. I try not to let it show and I don't think it gets to the stage of pissing anyone else off that much, but when I think I'm right be prepared for an argument. To me that's better than being vague and not being able to explain why you believe in something (or in my case, DON'T believe in something, ahem).
Do you get Motion Sickness: Nope, never
Do you think you are Attractive: Once in a blue moon, if all the conditions are right, I can be. Otherwise I obsess over a small detail or that my hair's grown too long. I need to be wearing make-up and have my hair the right length and preferrably have my annoying skin with as few problems as possible. I can be vain when it comes to myself but again, I'd never think anything less of other people based on how they look, only myself.
Are you a Health Freak: Nope.
Do you get along with your Parents: Most of the time, although I think we're a bit distant.
Do you like Thunderstorms: They beat most of qthe boring weather here!
Do you play an Instrument: Nope, never have. One of those little things that has slipped by me (for now at least?)
In the past month have you Drank Alcohol: Yep, welcome to the UK.
In the past month have you Smoked: A whole cigarette? Non msieur.
In the past month have you been on Drugs: Not of the kind you mean, nope.
In the past month have you gone on a Date: Nope, I've never been on a date in that way.
In the past month have you gone to a Mall: Yep! I never buy anything but looking is fun!
In the past month have you eaten a box of Oreos: Nope
In the past month have you eaten Sushi: Nope, again, I'm a veggy
In the past month have you been on Stage: Nope
In the past month have you been Dumped: Nope
In the past month have you gone Skinny Dipping: Nope
In the past month have you Stolen Anything: Nope
Ever been Drunk: Of course! I was a very late starter (like I am for almost everything it seems) but of course I have.
Ever been called a Tease: Yes, I've been called a cock-tease and a slut. I wish.
Ever been Beaten up: Nope
Ever Shoplifted: Nope
How do you want to Die: In a non painful way
What do you want to be when you Grow Up: Something related to digital video, web design, digital somethingorother, film restoration, or the like. If it involves visuals and computers then I'm there.
What country would you most like to Visit: Japan, but I'd feel like a big dumb English-only speaker so Canada might be a better choice.
In a Boy/Girl..
Favourite Eye Color: Doesn't really matter. But big brown eyes can be cute.
Favourite Hair Color: Again doesn't matter, but I like anything you couldn't be born with.
Short or Long Hair: In-between and that counts for both. I don't like incredibly short hair.
Height: Doesn't matter at all
Weight: Not ridiculously skinny, not ridiculously fat
Best Clothing Style: Uh....?
Number of CDs I own: Almost no music CDs. I am a downloaddy boy.
Number of Piercings: 4
Number of Tattoos: 0, but that's bound to change some day fairly soon
Number of things in my Past I Regret: None. What'd be the point?

CREATE YOUR OWN! - or - GET PAID TO TAKE SURVEYS!

Too many people are obsessed with gender. This concept, or anything else that I don't have full control over, doesn't sit well with me in the slightest so don't try it. Regardless, this test jokes about me having no nuts. Is it true? How can we find out?

You Are 50% Boyish and 50% Girlish
You are pretty evenly split down the middle - a total eunuch.
Okay, kidding about the eunuch part. But you do get along with both sexes.
You reject traditional gender roles. However, you don't actively fight them.
You're just you. You don't try to be what people expect you to be. How Boyish or Girlish Are You?

This layout was created by moi. Don't steal it.

A rant for the videogamers...

UPDATE: when I originally wrote this before Gears of War (one of the games I rant about here) came out, I wasn't aware that when the game released, it actually had a "Vivid" mode to work around what I...
