First off, Jazzy Jeff back in 86 was the first to put transforming scratches on the map... And yeah me being a young buck tried to copy every one of the cuts on the family stereo...Later around 89 came DJ SCRATCH from EPMD... He was doing cuts nobody ever heard before, and yes, I tried every last cut or scratch that I could... After a while, I used both there styles and tied them into my own style...DJ PREMIER hit the charts in the late 80's as the DJ of GANG STARR... Premire and Guru took the aspect of track makin to another level. By bringing jazz into the game help bring about the art of true hip hop from the music half of it.... One of the ILLEST Producers in the game, I'm hoping one day we can hook up on a project.....PETE ROCK, damn what can I say... This is like my God in the music world.. Everything I've done to this point was inspired some kind of way by this cat... Just the way he can take a funk song, or jazz, soul or what ever and chop it up into a masterpiece!!!! I know if I'm buying a cd and he's involed with it, I already know it's tight... No need to listen to it first!!!! Word up....
Sounds Like:I'm a big fan of rap, but this here, is hip hop. Where beats are inspired by jazz and funk from the past. Where lyricist spit fire by way of metaphors etc... Inspired by some of the ILLEST Spoken Word Poets to ever touch a peace of steal, going all the way back to the 60's in the Black Panther Days.... That's what hip hop really is all about.... And it's my first and only love. No other music can give me the feelin that true hip hop gives... And I'll be all up in it till death do we part... WORD UP!!! THA BOSS!!!! UNDERGROUND WILL LIVE FOREVER BABY... NO NEED FOR RADIO PLAY!!!
