PURESSENCE are currently taking America by storm with their new album ‘Don’t Forget To Remember’. Kicking 2008 off with a bang, the band were chosen by US iTunes to launch their new homepage feature, ‘Editors Choice’ in February with ‘Don’t Forget To Remember’. Within a week the album entered US iTunes’ TOP 40 outselling Led Zeppelin and the Foo Fighters. Simultaneously PURESSENCE have been a permanent fixture in Greece’s TOP 10, where they’ve always enjoyed huge success, with both the album and new single ‘Don’t Know Any Better’ (which sees a UK release on May 19th).
Originally appearing as a soft release at the tail end of last year on the newly re-launched label REACTION RECORDS, ‘Don’t Forget to Remember’ is now getting a wide release on June 16th.
With classic written all over it, ‘Don’t Forget to Remember’ sees the band alongside legendary producer Andy Macpherson (Buzzcocks, Teenage Fanclub, Frank Black and The Who) develop their sound into something bigger and more expansive. The songs are drenched into spine tingling melodies and epic soundscapes while maintaining front man James Mudriczki’s beautiful lyrical integrity. James’ charismatic stage presence and unique vocal delivery coupled with beautifully crafted songs enrapture audiences and capture the imagination.
Comparisons with Muse, Doves, Snow Patrol and Coldplay are justified but PURESSENCE are operating well away from industry standards and current fads. PURESSENCE are a gang of wholly dedicated hard working musicians who have built a loyal fan base around the world. With this latest international exposure, they now have the potential to catapult themselves into major leagues.
In addition to the US iTunes success PURESSENCE attracted the attention of US folk icon Judy Collins who was so captured with James Mudriczki’s voice, she invited him to appear on a forthcoming Judy Collins tribute album, released in the UK this June. James’ song is used as the lead single from this album where he is featured alongside the world’s finest vocalists including Rufus Wainwright, Leonard Cohen, Dolly Parton, Jimmy Webb and Chrissie Hynde.
PURESSENCE are playing live at Manchester Academy 1 on Saturday October 18. Watch this space for updates on US live dates and a Greek tour throughout the summer.
