Purple has oftentimes symbolized royalty, dating back to Roman times, when clothing dyed with Tyrian purple was limited to the upper classes due to the rarity (and thus price) of the dye. The color, which was closer to a deep crimson/red-violet color than to the modern idea of purple, was the favored color of many kings and queens. With Grimey Kid, Purple is going to have that meaning back. Born and raised in Paris, Grimey Kid aka The Prince aka Met started making beats at the age of 15. While being passionate by the art of Graffiti, he discovered other art forms of the hip hop culture such as Deejaying and production. Working with an Ensoniq ASR 10, EPS 16 and Roland S330, he spent a lot of time on mastering his craft until some opportunities came up to him. He hooked up with some underground artists from the Brroklyn rap’s scene like Sin,Ghettorockstar, Illflo or Rebel Relz. A kid from the 80’s (1985 to be exact), who’s like most of his peers, lives with the American Dream in his mind. He decided to move to NYC in 2003, in order to witness the graffiti scene and build some relationships with some local acts. That’s where he met Agallah, anunderground legend who has worked with some of the most respected MCs in the game. Agallah became quickly impressed by the motivation and the beats ofGrimey Kid. So by the time Agallah was working on his LP “You Already Know “ there was no doubt that the young producer will be a part of it. He produced two of the best tracks on the LP “Look At You Know†and “Right Now†which features the legend Kool G Rap. The LP received a lot of love all over the world and was a good introduction of Grimey Kid’s talent.
