About me...I'm 22. I love life and I am a pretty joyus person but my life is REALLY off balance right now. I recently lost my fiance, this April, to suicide. I am on a l o n g journey of learning to cope with living my life without him. And everything else that goes with it. I was with him all the time and I miss him more than I can express or write with words. I am still standing tho, with God & good friends and family who are supportive all the way and more help than they know.
I will not be destroyed.
Recently I was asked what got me into belly dance...and I thought for a minute and gave an answer that was only partial & somewhat unsatisfying to me. So upon thinking on it here it is, all joking aside...
Originally a friend, Amy Bodine (Thanks Amy!!!!), invited my sister and me to a bellydancing class. I went to that class because it sounded fun and exotic/unusal I suppose. After that first class I was hooked. Such beautiful movements... such grace. We stopped for awhile and then came back to it (money and such). Still practicing with our original teacher Khandi.
Belly dance effects me in so many different ways. Both watching a dancer and dancing myself. It is invigorating for the body and the soul. It is entrancing at times...captivating. It is beautiful and sensual (like an inner feminity that can only be reached through moving). It is empowering and freeing. You can let loose and enter a different realm basically, especially with some good music. Add the right music to it and I could dream.
So, after my first class I had some very small portion of this entirety in my reach and I liked it. The more I pursue it the bigger vision and feel of all of this I get. And that is me right now (still pretty new, but my feet are wet) I am not in as deep as I will go. It only gets better from here. I would really love to eventually perform, although I am shy for it right now (aside from some wine ;), or if you get me at the right moment).
