About Me

Born: May 23, 1983Birthplace: Philadelphia, PAAlex started playing guitar at the age of 13, after having studied the piano, the cello, and the trumpet.Alex has been fortunate enough to have quite a few extremely talented teachers, the first being John Gorbe, who for the first five years provided Alex with a solid foundation and understanding in music and the guitar. The second is a man by the name of Shawn Grafius. Shawn was the first to expose Alex to 70’s jazz-fusion, Flamenco, and Classical music as well as various technical aspects of the guitar. Another of Alex’s teachers was Scott McGill. Once, a student of Dennis Sandole’s, Alex credits Scott with helping to strengthen his knowledge and skill of music theory and improvisation. Currently, Alex is studying Jazz Guitar at Bucks County Community College with John Sheridan who once studied with Philadelphia jazz greats Tom Giacabetti and Joe Federico. John has been instrumental in solidifying Alex’s chord theory and improvisational abilities. After auditioning in November ’05, Alex put his college career on hold, loaded up his car, and relocated to Miami to begin rehearsing with Santiago Dobles and the other members of Aghora in 2006.After a brief stint with Aghora, Alex moved back to Philadelphia to continue his college career and to pursue his own musical projects. Currently, Alex is recording a 6 song demo with The Foot, writing and recording material with the fusion band Altair 4, and is also writing and recording material for his own solo project. Alex also, at the moment, teaches guitar to as many as 35 students a week.
