About Me

I have come to regard unrequited love like a hole in a sock.
Mend it or discard it. Don't just stand there with cold feet!
You can take the girl outta Texas, but ya can't take Texas outta the girl!
Texan by birth!
Scottish, 7 months outta the year, by choice Y'ALL!

The Scottish, along with the Irish, are some of the coolest people in the world.
What do the Scottish people do, you wonder?
1. They drink
2. They like to fight over sports, namely football (soccer) & rugby
3. They drink
4. They sing loudly, often conjoined in some male ritualistic bonding coalition
5. They drink
6. They are some of the cutest wee old ladies in the world
7. They drink
8. They are incredibly friendly folk
9. They drink
10. Their national costume is underwear optional
And I happen to know that "going commando" is very popular in Scotland ladies!
And they are nae bothered to prove it! :o)
So, my 2 1/2 year old niece said some words to live by recently when she went off for her first day of pre-school with her pack-pack in tow, "I wont poop my pants, I wont say "Oh shit!", I will share my toys and I wont say shut-up!" How funny is that? Then she proceeded to stare at her pre-school teacher, look up and tell my brother-in-law, "Papa, my teacher has big boobies!"
She will go a long way in life, I tell you!
I know for a fact that there is no one like me in this entire world! :o) OK, so that being said, do you want to know a wee bit about me? I'm fun, silly and smart. I have a fabulous sense of humor and I value having a good laugh! I love life! It's the kid inside all of us that keeps us from going crazy! I love surrounding myself with GOOD people that enrich my life! My friends describe me as fun, outgoing, talkative and supportive, always a smile on my face. There are do-ers and say-ers in this world. I pride myself in being a do-er. I'm a student in Scotland, a transplant from Texas just a few months out of the year. I like to have fun and go with the flow! I'm a kind, caring, honest person. I'm a loyal daughter, sister, aunt and friend. When I say I'll be there for you, I always mean it. I take my "Aunty Kelly" duties very seriously. You know it's all worth it, when your sister tells you that you are an inspiration and role model for her children.
....choke back tears....
I give only unconditional love and respect to the special people in my life. I expect no less in return. I enjoy time with friends and laughing at the crap life throws at you sometimes. A friend to many, but very careful about the people I let close to my heart. Unfortunately, I've had to learn some hard lessons about human nature over the years. It is true what they say, your family are the only people you can count on. I have a wonderful, large, supportive family back home in Texas, the BEST state!
I enjoy children and look forward to starting a family with the right man someday. No hurry though, I just have so many big plans for the future! I'm 5'8" with green eyes and brunette hair. I'm a serious student, following a childhood dream, but I do like to go out and have fun! Life is short and spontaneity is a good thing. I drink socially and enjoy dancing. I always say, dance like no one is watching and shake what yo Mama gave ya! I enjoy the club scene and I also like dancing to sad ol' country songs. I'm versatile like that! I love live music and enjoy visiting the local pubs in Scotland and Texas. Oh yeahhhh.... Some of my favorite placess back home are The Old Coupland Inn and Dance Hall, Gruene Hall and The Backyard.
Just as happy going out or staying in really! I enjoy surrounding myself with positive, up-beat, genuine people. The kind of people that make a positive contribution to my life, as well as the lives of everyone around them. I would not have it any other way. I'm a lover, not a fighter. I know no other way to be!
I am potty trained and current on all my vaccinations!
My only wish, for my life, would be to give something back to society, leave a lasting impression on everyone that crosses my path and make a positive difference in this crazy world we live in. I believe in hard work, playing fair and telling the truth because moral character is so often lacking in the world today.
I've learned that when you're dealing with shit from other people in your life, you don't want to use a teaspoon!
The thirties are the best years for women!!!! Ask me, I know!
Did I mention I love flowers and I sincerely appreciate a good Mexican martini? Missin Trudy's! Hehe...
I believe that with age comes wisdom. Not that I'm so old, just that I've sometimes, more often than I'd like, had to learn the most from mistakes of the past. And don't you know, you never make those mistakes again! I seem to ponder more about life's events now. Wondering why things happen in our lives? Why we hurt each other? How someone you love can look you in the eyes and lie to you? What people are thinking when they don't feel that their children, or even their pets, are a responsibility for that individuals lifetime? Where does loyalty amongst friends vanish? Wondering if we'd be on the endangered species list if men had to have babies and rear them?
I know that you get back what you give in life and I find karma very, very interesting. I know that you will not be successful until you're happy with yourself. If you're not happy, do what it takes to change your life, so that you are happy. Find that happiness and sustain it. I believe in the ability of continuous improvement of oneself and in helping others to improve themselves as well. I also believe you should not be afraid to try anything in life. If you never try, you will miss out on that dream, opportunity, love or career, some of the more important things in life. I believe in fair play throughout all aspects of life, honesty, fidelity and in helping others less fortunate than yourself.
Wayne Gretzky once said, "You miss 100 percent of the shots you never take." True dat!
I believe that failure should never make you quit! As Sir Winston Churchill so eloquently put it, "NEVER GIVE UP!"
My mistakes have certainly made me a stronger woman!
Lead with the heart!
It's not how much you do, but how much love you put into the doing...

Just a typical Texas cloud...

"These matters of passion and emotion, they are cut of imperfect fabric, no matter what we do. The road we take to the other side of our selfish nature is built on the back of our deepest mistakes!"

Amazingly touching story...
No matter how high the price, NEVER give up on your dreams!

I'd like to meet:

There are people in the world who are there to save you when you need savin',
cover your ass when it needs covering and
are always there when you need someone to lean on!
~Ya-Ya

I pride myself in being fortunate enough to have people like that in my life. You know who you are! I do have my share of wonderful friends. I wouldn't trade them for the world. Some are very old and some are pretty new. I'm always interested in meeting new people (guys and gals) and renewing ties with old friends, as well as possibly exploring something more serious with a GOOD guy. Friends first, always, but I'd like to meet a man strong enough to be a lifetime partner, funny enough to keep my heart healthy laughing, supportive of my every endeavor (goes both ways), and passionate about the important things in life.
I like confidence and brains, but not arrogance. If you're not too proud to practice a wee bit of humility, then I'd probably like you! I like caring people that know how to treat you with respect. Always look me in the eyes when you talk to me. If you are a GOOD man, you must enjoy cuddling, family life, being in the great outdoors, art, holding hands, history, travel, talking about anything on your mind, children, cuddling, entertaining friends, crazy nights out, music, cuddling, animals and cozy nights in. If you're a woman, everything minus the cuddling, holding hands and cozy nights in! :o)
I find that travel brings clarity to your life and I enjoy taking time to breathe in new cultures and the beauty of this world!
If you know how to play the guitar or sing to me while playing the guitar, I promise I will be putty in your hands!!! j/k :o)
Sense of humor is KEY!
Sometimes I think it would be great if guys/relationships/friends came with expiration dates? Then you'd know just how much of yourself you'd be willing to give in advance, instead of giving all your heart and soul to someone that isn't deserving.
I would appreciate a man that is not too scared to show some kind of emotion, but I'm not too fond of moody people. There is a big difference between passion and anger.

A friendship/relationship is about give and take; so if you only know how to take, I'm not your gal. Also, I believe in forever and that there is just one person for everyone, so, if you have no concept of forever or like to juggle multiple women, I'm really not your gal.
I have no need for fair weather friends! If you give up on the people in your life frequently or bail on your loved ones at every bump in the road, NEXT.
I appreciate people that value what is on the inside of a person because ultimately that is the most important thing, what makes you tick! Beauty and status can fade at any moment in life. And titles, well being educated is important in this world, but having a title undoubtedly doesn't make the man!
I know what I want out of life and I'm no longer willing to settle for anything less! If you can't handle an independent woman that is capable of thinking for herself, then just move along little doggie!
Loving someone is helping them to realize their potential!
One can never have too many friends!
I think it's so important to be in love with your best friend! For better or worse, that means something to me! I'm not looking for Mr. Right-Now, but I'm interested in good friends, they are the icing on the cake in life, and I'd certainly consider being swept off my feet by Mr. Right!
Caveat: I'm not looking to get married any time soon, nor am I looking for an "internet relationship" with someone in a distant foreign country. If you're not REAL, unable to tell the truth from a lie, unable to close the closet for all the skeletons falling out, have zero concept of loyalty or need someone to save you financially because you were stupid and let some younger woman take all your money and run, please don't message me.
It's really a shame that some people in this world can't just download character off the Internet!
You'll have to save yourself before you can be anything to anyone else!

Now, knowing all this, welcome to my life!

I think this is so beautiful...

Movies:

I enjoy watching movies in the theater. I like comedy, drama, romance, documentary types, non-traditional, foreign, not a big fan of scary movies. Some of my faves are Bridget Jones, Love Actually, Shawshank Redemption, Raising Arizona, Meet the Parents, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Out of Africa, Lonesome Dove, Devil's Advocate, Tommy Boy, The Bone Collector, Urban Cowboy, Best in Show, The Notebook, Chocolat, A Christmas Story, Amelie, Disneys, Fight Club, Sense and Sensibility, Star Wars (of course!), Jack Ass (fuggin idiots), Patch Adams, The Princess Bride, Circle of Friends, Ghost, Pixars, etc. 40-yr Old Virgin (hilarious), Corpse Bride (dark), March of the Penguins (amazing), Wallace and Gromit (sucked), Dreamer (inspiring), Brokeback (did any cowboys watch that? lol). Chronicles of Narnia was good, some great cinematography! Walk the Line was great! In Her Shoes, another good one! Devil Wears Prada, makes you appreciate following your heart and your dreams in life! Open Season, so cute! Loved the Scottish squirrel. The Last Kiss, really enjoyed it. Good story line in that mistakes can be corrected! Plus, I got my Zach fix! Blood Diamond was great. Amazing twist. My sister was in the Peace Corps in Sierra Leone, so that hit home for her. 300, amazing filming, great action with a rather large side of blood! I'll watch anything, so long as it doesn't suck!
If you can make a girl laugh, you can make her do anything!

THAT'S HOT!

That's HOT too!

Television:

Sex and the City!!

Sure miss my show...
Enjoy Animal Planet, Grey's Anatomy, Vet Safari, Billy Connolly's travel comedy show (I just love him), Number One Single, Flog it, Daisy Does America, Desperate Housewives, Scrubs, Extreme Makeover Home Edition (always makes me cry), Pimp My Ride, Relocation Relocation, Family Guy, House, Friends (only because it's on one or more channels every hour of the day here), David Letterman, Saturday Night Live (old school more than new, Chris Farley was da bomb). Don't really watch a lot of tele here in dreary, but in some way romantic Scotland, because I'm too busy studying and working out. Do love travel shows, documentaries, anything having to do with animals, love, babies, Texas, medicine, self improvement, home improvement, etc. Not a big reality tv fan because it's not REALLY reality now is it?

Books:

I'm not allowed to read anything for fun at this point in my life! Only textbooks and medical articles...

Heroes:

My grandfather. He lived to be 104 yrs old. He was a scholar, a farmer, a poet, a teacher and a soldier in WWI. They just don't make em like that anymore...

And my heroes have always been cowboys!
