The Vandalism Begins @ Home organisation is a cross pollination of bands, promoters, DJs & venues that have come together in a previously un-heard of spirit of unity.
This is a non-profit making collective. All funds raised go to publicise future events, pay the bands themselves & keep the website up & running.
We only support original artists originating from, or that have very strong connections with Luton and the immediate surrounding area.
We have recently produced a compilation CD of twenty of these bands. This CD has been self funded, professionally mastered & manufactured. It has been extremely well received by The Luton News, Luton At Large & The Herald & Post, as well as by all those who have purchased it.
A project on this scale has never been attempted, let alone completed, in Luton before and illustrates what can be achieved with belief in our flourishing local scene and sheer determination.
VB@H hosted a series of well attended summer showcase events at The Well, Luton’s current premier music venue – the opening being the second highest attendance at the venue ever.
High attendance was achieved via the use of technology – the VB@H website, emails, text messages etc as well as good, old fashioned word-of-mouth & paper flyering.
As a result of all this the VB@H collective promoters working within various venues are now supporting each other, rather than working in competition with each other.
Live music nights at separate venues no longer clash with each other ensuring that audiences aren’t split.
This can be said for all the bands associated with VB@H too. A much higher percentage of bands turn out to see other bands play than was previously the case.
And all this has happened in just six months.
VB@H’s future plans include the securing of a permanent live music venue in Luton that will host local bands as well as bigger out-of-town bands, along the lines of Esquires in Bedford.
This is probably the most essential part of VB@H’s mission as current venues are prone to management changes, changing policies etc. such that a currently thriving venue may become a restaurant at the drop of a hat.
The VB@H website is updated daily and now boasts a list of forty bands / artists.
