Erica Kane

I'm Miss Kane, Bitch.

About Me

In a time when a female emcee is categorized as either too risqué and or too boring, Ms. Kane deems that breakdown inconceivable, especially when there is so much to talk about. With a style all her own, Erica Kane will prove that her smooth yet harsh wordplay and endless catalog will place her on a pedestal deserving of someone of her caliber.Known among her peers in the battle circuit as Drizz, Erica Kane is a force to be reckoned with in the hip-hop underworld. When Roxanne Shante, the female equivalent of Big Daddy Kane, Kool G. Rap and LL Cool J came to prominence in 1984 Erica was born into a musical household. Her father was a police officer who played trumpet in a band, and would often play records for her ranging from Chuck Mangione to Chuck D. She performed in talent shows from the tender age of four, until she began to write rhymes, unaware that she was embarking on a journey to the peak of musical success, of which she is still traveling.Erica has always been a writer at heart. Earning high marks in high school for reports and articles, she decided early that she would go to school for journalism. Erica attended Howard University as a print journalism major and maintained a commendable average throughout her college years. Her peers and professors admired her writing skills and recommended that she go into ghostwriting. She did so for a while until she decided that she would be the one to take the limelight.Erica is currently working on her first album, entitled MisAmerica: Diary of a Mad Black Woman. Her talent has allowed her to work with several up-and-coming artists and meet many well-known names in the music industry. As a student at Howard University, she defeated the champion and earned studio time in February 2006s battle. She also engaged in lyrical warfare at Adelphi University, appeared on Spit or Go Home DVD Volume 4, Mad Ciphas TV and has worked on productions from Alchemist and Ron Browz.MisAmerica: The Diary of a Mad Black Woman is Ericas way of deviating from the uniform packaging of female artists that have come into the mainstream in the past couple of years. Miss Kane will be tackling topics such as politics, relationships and will also feature swagger-heavy New York-based freestyles as well as bass generous club friendly cuts. This project will be one that will leave Susan Lucci signing up for writing classes!
