I'm a native of South Alabama, living in Baldwin County five years then Mobile for five before moving to Mississippi just after I turned eleven.
Growing up, when I wasn't away at school for the better part of nine months out of the year, we lived in about 15 different houses in 17 years in Alabama and Mississippi. I left home as soon as I graduated and went to work; had taken a college entrance exam to study psychology, but was encouraged to work a year first so I never went back except for night classes many years later.
I met my second husband on the job and after our son was born, he was transferred to Tupelo for 13-1/2 years. We've been back in the central part of the state since 1995 and he's happy to be back close to his family and it's been good for our son to be near his grandparents.
I've been a stay-at-home wife and mom since the end of 2000. Our son married September 9, 2006. They have a Dachshund, Rusty, Corey got her for her birthday in July the same year. Everybody loves and spoils him.
UPDATE 7/24/07: We found out we're going to be grandparents!!! The baby is due March 29th.
Because of congenital hereditary cataracts, I don't drive so am pretty dependent on others to go or do anything I want to do since we live in a rural area with no public transportation. I think that's one thing I miss most about Tupelo besides the mall, Wal*Mart closer than ten miles, their super public library where I did a good bit of my family history research, and the great places to eat.
As for our pets, we have three yappy Yorkshire Terrieries (Yorkies), who are all getting up in age now.
