About Me


I figured with all the change that consistantly occurs within me, that updating my profile might actually be a good use of 10 minutes. Rounding the corner on 31, I'm happily hitched to one of my most favorite people, Jake, theeeee most phenominal person you will ever, EVER know ... and 8 years later we've created two amazing little people, Cooper (4 years old) and Cohen (1.5 years old). Easily my most fantastic accomplishment, ever. Being a mom is without a doubt, the most important thing in my life... I experience days of complete and utter joy in simply watching them eat a peanut butter sandwich. I adore every square inch of them and beg God daily to keep them small.
I consistantly live by the motto to encompass yourself with people who are better than you, because I believe we are who we surround ourselves with. The rule for me, stands firm even more so with the person you chose to spend your life with. My piece of advice? Marry someone who clearly challenges you to be a better person and you can't go wrong. Somehow, I manage to stay home full-time with the boys, and work-full time as a professional photographer and designer. I live in mayhem and chaos and it's fantastic. Time management is incontestably a priority around here and multi-tasking... necessary.
I am a million things yet I don't consider myself a complicated personality. I feel things passionately. I like to think of myself as one with multiple layers. I am constantly trying to discover the best version of myself. I am stubborn and ornery yet ridiculously empathetic. I put my friends in the same category as my family and make them an enormous priority in my life. I will probably always be one who tries harder than I need to. I am my own worst critic and have slowly gotten to an extremely comfortable place in my life where I care very little, about the opinions of others. I am somewhat of a conservative person, yet own a bona fide untraditional view on a few things that have over time, defined me and have provided me an entree of absolutely extraordinary personalities to be a part of my life. I can often be found, the only girl within a swarm of my guy pals ... having a beer and playing pool, then the next day, sipping on a bottle of wine with my girlfriends, giggling for no reason whatsoever over a fantastic lunch downtown. I spend my free time outdoors, camping, boating, BBQ'ing, volleyball, traveling, documenting life with my camera and digging my hands in my own dirt. I find a lot of satisfaction in growing something from nothing. I enjoy being a business person and investment/entrepreneurial opportunities. I love all aspect of design and find myself oogling over the littlest details in just about everything. My head is full of cluttered inspiration with more creative ideas than I could ever accomplish in this life time. I eat peanut butter by the spoonful. My exhaustion usually results in spastic bouts of uncontrollable giggling. I am not a morning person. I am most comfortable in jeans and flipflops. I have a small, yet obsessive love affair with varying types of lip balm. I like expensive coffees and cheap wine, not necessarily together. I enjoy a good challenge, in many aspects of life. I almost always have my camera with me. I am inspired by those who are intense about life, who can think outside of the box, who are open to things beyond their understanding, and who can uniquely and truly put others before themselves. It's rare.
When I'm talking to you, I'm more than likely, looking for catches of light in your eyes.

My Interests

Jacob Thompson, Cooper Thompson & Cohen Thompson. My amazing friends who love me and all of my dysfunction. Tucking my kids in at night, watching their bellies rise and fall with each little breath. 8:23 am when Jake walks in the door from shift in one piece. Costco size buckets of Red Vines. Every single time my boys say "mama". Those rare, crazy, memorable nights out with friends, sweaty, intoxicated laughing and dancing with the thump of house music beating in your chest. Nuts in my salad, PEZ, in-depth spontanious conversations about everything and absolutely nothing at the same time, people who aren't asshats ... authentic mexican food, Fenway Park, fonts, drive-up coffee huts, watching my kids discover something for the first time, whether it's an ant on the ground or the shape of a cloud, I love to write, it's a passion I've had since I was very little, instant messenger, anything involving chocolate and peanutbutter together, riding the T, baseball players and their uniforms, lately ... Shiraz, artistic photo manipulation, I can easily spend hours editing photos and not know a single minute passed (it's like staring into a flame for me, love it). Good hearted people. The kind that don't have to try to be. Watching my boys grow, healthy and strong. The Fringe! Bonne Bell chapsticks, the Red Sox, people who ask how you are and actually want to know... finding time to flip through a really good magazine, my Blackberry (how did I ever get anything done before?), several spots on my kids (the crease in their neck, their little baby pits, that spot right behind their knees, those itty bitty toes good enough to chew on!)... an afternoon with one of my friends, sipping a great bottle of wine, talking for hours about everything over really good food. Being a genuinely decent and kind person and teaching my sons to be the same.

I'd like to meet:

People who are strong, and yet... kind. People who are genuinely lovely. Anyone with quick wit, charm and a dry sense of humor. Those who are humble... I'm rarely impressed with material items. Those with a sense of attachment. Tweekers who make me laugh. Tweekers who make themselves laugh. People who do what they say. People who are in touch with things that matter. Steadfastness. The kind who can take a fall, stand up and brush themselves off. Those who can stop and look around them and appreciate the moment they are in. Randomness. Depth. Smiles are good... real ones. Those with an honest sense of altruism. People who can be themselves without trying. I'm an avid believer that men and women can be true and great friends. Period. Everyone has a story to tell.... and most of them are worth learning from. Gosh, there are so many fascinating people in the world, I do my best to meet as many as possible. I am extremely interested in peoples stories. There's so many amazing things to learn about people, if you just listen. I'm extremely passionate about the things I choose to do, I hope you are too. I'm also extremely interested in meeting Annie Leibovitz, Ann Coulter, the unbelievable Josh Wilund and my boys in adult form.

Music:

Music has an incredible power over me... it easily transports me to a particular time and place quickly reminding me of someone, something.... a feeling. Jack Johnson, The Weepies, Flickerstick, Blue October,Five for Fighting, Elliot Smith, Shawn McDonald, Dave Matthews (All Along the Watchtower instantly does something to my soul everytime I hear it), Jason Mraz, AquaLung, Allison Kraus, James Taylor, Sarah Mclachlan, Nickel Creek, Ben Harper, Coldplay, Paul Simon, John Mayer, Norah Jones, Sheryl Crow, Seether, Maroon 5, Hoobastank, Bare Naked Ladies, Counting Crows, Fleetwood Mac, on and on and on.....

Movies:

When Harry Met Sally, all time favorite flick. Most of my working hours occur between 8pm-1am, not much time to get down and dirty with my dvd player, but in general, I lean towards movies/stories that make me question how I think about something or touch on a feeling that I can relate to in real life.

Television:

Desperate Housewives, Greys Anatomy, Sex & the City re-runs and Red Sox games during baseball season, HGTV and the Food Network, although not much time for TV these days, I try to squeeze in my few favorites.

Books:

Anything by Shel Silverstein. Currently reading, Ann Coulter's "Godless" and catching up with the mainstream and tackling the DaVinci Code before I'm forced to watch it on DVD. Typically, anything made of durable cardboard , unable to be eaten by the boy children.

Heroes:

How about angels? My sons Cooper and Cohen.... absolute best things in my life and my husband, who saves the lives of complete stangers every single day. Scott Lyons, killed in the line of duty, 1997. People who live their lives well without playing the victim card. My dad, for raising my brother and I, all on his very own.
