Felina's Arrow

Glam, Pain and Harmony

About Me

OUR BIOFelina's Arrow is set to break your heart open with songs that reflect people's triumphs, failures, and struggles. After meeting on the sidewalk in Seattle 2002, Poeina and Felicia became instantly inseparable. Felina's Arrow toured non-stop, coast to coast, from the sidewalk to the theatres, in a VW van for the next four years. They now reside in Portland Oregon where they are brewing up songs for their next album, hosting the Luna Music Series, and growing their own food. Felina's Arrow has been crafting and participating in multimedia performance art music and dance with wonderful groups such as The Gender Fulids, Spit Fury, and more. They hope to continue this trend of mixing multiple talents to create a live spectacle for the eyes, ears and heart.DESCRIPTION OF SOUNDglam, pain and harmony soulful, experimental, operatic expression of dulce de leche womyn challenging social idealsPRESSFelina’s Arrow = Cat Power + Bjork + Jewel? If you’re into going to the restaurants that have live music on their schedules, Let Me Tell You a Story is a good way to recreate that atmosphere without leaving the house. It seems that as the album goes by, it really is telling you a story. Each song has a different vibe from jazzy to comedic. The instrumental sound is exceptionally good and blends in with the ghostly vocals of Poeina Suddarth and Felicia Figueroa.~slug magazine - CD review SLC, UT - 12/07 - Issue 228"Their album, let me tell you a story, has a beautiful reminiscent sound of what it must have been like to see Ella Fitzgerald perform in her favorite piano bar....Felina is unique in it's re-creation of history in music....already starlets in a grungy river town, the women of Felina will be hard to miss being a shiny diamond in the rough of Portland."~Just Out - A Class Act by West Duncan Portland, OR 5/07“The Power beauty and magic of music, truly the heart and soul of music, is to be passing on songs that reflect people’s lives and stories that aren’t readily available by any other means. That’s what I love about you two. You bring these kinds of things to us and you are conscious in your music. Great music, voluminous music, it’s so beautiful, you have it all as far as I am concerned.”~KBOO 90.7fm - Woman Soul live interview by Sheila Gayle Portland, OR 5/07“Felina’s CD, Let Me Tell You a Story, is a breath of fresh air. It takes quite a bit of artistry to create something completely unique, and Felina has done it….The Vocals have a quirkiness that could be compared to Regina Spektor and Bjork…Suddarth’s voice had the control of an opera singer, the tenderness of a folk singer, and the unleashed power of a woman scorned…Just like their album, their live show will catch you by surprise at every turn.”~Volcano Weekly – Sound Check Two Worlds Collide by Angela Jossy Olympia, WA 4/07“Imaginative treatment of standards by the duo Felina, including a darkly minimal "Good Morning, Heartache," was appropriate and charming in its unpolished enthusiasm.”~The Oregonian - Ain’t anybody’s business if they sing like Billie Tribute by Lynn Darroch 3/07“Wow that is a beautiful song, I am kind of speechless, that’s honestly the 1st time I’ve been speechless on the radio about a song, absolutely beautiful.”~KAOS 89.3fm - Hump Day Hoedown live interview by Jose Oympia, WA 5/06“They are real Road Warriors, working hard on getting out a lot. Felina provides a spectacle for the audience, never without full costume.”~The Argonaut, Moscow, ID 10/05“Rich smoky vocals, intricate lyrics, a damn good listen. Their music is original, synergistic and raw with a range like a postal service zip code.”~The Boise Weekly, Boise, ID 8/03Felina's Arrow tours with other bands and as a solo act. They can perform any size event, party, performance. Please contact them at [email protected] for booking information

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: POEINA SUDDARTH - I began my vocal training in the Seattle Girls Choir at age eight with a Russian women, Ludmila Tretzakova. She was the most strict and influential teacher in my life. Later I moved on to do many House of Blues, Gorge Amitheatre shows such as two years Lilith Fair(which I played with Brandi Carlile we were in a band together in highschool), Bob Dylan, GooGoo Dolls, Paul Simon, Garbage, Alanis Moressette, and more. I am number eight of sixteen brothers and sisters...a lot of creative types, but i am the only working musician, so far. I have no home town, I’ve moved and traveled with and without my family so much, that at this point the place I’ve lived the longest is on the road.
FELICIA FIGUEROA - I was born and raised in Arizona. My favorite smell of all time is the desert after it rains. It's amazing. From conception to 10 i grew up in Phoenix, then we moved to my family's land, "Dos Arbolitos" in the White Mountains of Arizona. My Ma and Da built a solar and wind powered home there with fresh water pumped from the underlying aquifer for us to enjoy. I started traveling in 2002, met Poeina and didn't stop driving until now...for now. My dad toured as a funk musician for years with my mom in the 70's, to their fear and dismay, I am continuing the family trade. I started playing professionally at the age of fourteen with my dad and brother.
Influences: FELICIA FIGUEROA - my greatest influence is my dad and mom, people who work and fight for what they believe in no matter the consequence, people who live exactly how they want to live, people who do what they say they are going to do, street musicians, the strong willed and true hearted.
POEINA SUDDARTH - umm i will skip the bad influences and give you my top fifteen good ones 1)tobin our dog 2)harriet tubman 3)ludmila tretzakova 4)lee savel 5)elle fitzgerald 6)lorenzo carlos 7)felicia figueroa 8)frank and kathy eld 9)mercedes sosa 10)vanancia 11)violetta parra 12)billy holiday 13)unions workers 14)my vocal students 15)i agree with what felicia said too after the first line
