My Interests

My great passion for music began in the 70's, when I used to hear the Beatles, interested on the Rock & Roll sound. In the 80's I discovered heavy metal and soon identified myself with the sounds of the "darker" bands, mainly the death and black metal ones. With much tenacity I started to make a little bit more than hear records and go to shows in the clubs. I accepted the invitation of a friend to collaborate with a fanzine: Iron Man, specialized in the metal scene. I wrote about the first releases of bands as Exorcist (Canada), Sentinel Beast (Holland), Sarcófago (Brazil), Volcano (Brazil) among others. Since then, it was my great interest to dedicate myself in helping to divulge the bands and the metal scene, thru notes and articles for specialized fanzines, searching/trading informations with the bands, even distributing K7 tapes to my friends, all made by me.

In the end of the 80's, I started to pay attention to other sounds, that's when I heard the Cabaret Voltaire for the first time, in the old New Rock Show, of Transamerica Radio (92,7 FM. Recife). From now on, my musical taste would move to completely different music, though underground sounds have remained on, my new interests were Electronic oriented bands: Depeche Mode, OMD, Soft Cell, Human League, Yazoo, Ultravox, Visage, Duran Duran, New Order and Pet Shop Boys, are the references to me. At the same time, non metal, non electronic bands had my attention, bands that gave such flavour on my life, they were: Bauhaus, Dalis Car, Sisters of Mercy, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Simple Minds, The Cure, The Smiths, The Mission, The Jesus & Mary Chain, The Primitives, The Shop Assistants and Echo & The Bunnymen.

On the 90's and end of the 80's I started to follow only the electronic scene, the EBM birth, among all the variations of electronic sounds such as New Beat and Trance. Great bands and projects as Front 242, Liaisons Dangereuses, DAF, Skinny Puppy, Neon The Judgment, Revolting Cocks, Front Line Assembly, Klinik, Insekt, Vomito Negro, Data Bank A, Clock DVA, Borghesia, The Cassandra Complex, Nitzer ebb, Amnesia, SA 42, Confetti.s, The Maxx, Dirty Harry, Erotic Dissidents, Public Relations and Neon, they meant a total open mind, even more because of the Misty Club, that played not just these bands but also underground house, at that time there were also an amazing radio show called Novas Tendências (Rádio cidade 95,9 FM - Recife) and Club N.T. made by the DJ José Roberto Mahr.

I'm grateful with all my heart to these shows, the fanzines and magazines: Crewzine (Slovakia), Side Line (Belgium), Vertigo (Germany) for all the information and background that they gave me. Special thanks to my Carioca friend, Edson TS (Noise Democracy), that always brought me an up to date with the new features of the scene, sending me K7's, flyers, folders and releases of the bands and its works. I can tell that he was the one who helped me to initiate my work of divulgation and indication of new bands and records to the Djs of Misty, there I used to do set lists for they to play as well.

Then, I was invited by Alexander Twin and Eneas Neto, to distribute in my city the label Cri du Chat, wich I did successfully. The first items of the catalogue were Le Sacre Du Pritemps of the Simbolo and the first edition of a best of Brazilian bands called Minimal Synth Ethics, at the same time, thats when I started my radio show, together with Carlos Freitas, great friend and specialist in rock, the show: Cidade do Rock Alternativo (City of the Alternative Rock), that went to air at Sundays: 21:00 to 22:00 PM. The program was specialized in alternative rock, being my responsibility modulates it with an electronic side. National and international bands had been prominences in the program, between them Last Delay (Germany), Regenerator ( U.S.A.), Abscess (Germany), AïBoFoRcEn (Belgium), Cyber-Tec Project (Belgium), Silke Bischoff (Deutschland), Self & Inhumanoids (Brazil), Modem (Brazil), Brutal Divergenz (Brazil), Biopsy (Brazil), Individual Industry (Brazil), Aghast View (Brazil), City Limits (Brazil), Pitch Yarn of Matter (Brazil), Morgue (Brazil), Saara Saara (Brazil), Harry (Brazil), Tek Noir (Brazil) e Bad Cock (Brazil). The show lasted one year, but is still remembered these days.

When we finished the Cidade do Rock Alternativo (City of the Alternative Rock) Show, I decided to give a break, so I withdraw the scene for some personal stuff. All fixed, just came back with few collaborations on divulgation in the middle of 2004. With no lack of support at all, from friends like Edson TS (Noise Democracy) and Joba (Joba Records) soon I was returning to the scene; Joba stimulated me to make one set, of my taste, for its Joba Radio show on web. I made it exclusively with synthpop, new beat, EBM and dark electro/industrial. During one month I was there as guest, sharing the time of the show with both Joba and Eduardo Castor (Poptek). With a good friendship with Eduardo, he invited me to help him with the Poptek list, that had for purpose serve as an spreader divulgation place for electronic scene. Currently, Edson TS (Noise Democracy) and Joba (Joba Records) had invited to bring for the first time to Brazil (Rio de Janeiro), Bruno Kramm (Das Ich), in an event setted by the Noise Democracy and Joba Records. Soon, another event with Bruno was made in Rio de Janeiro, but now bringing Das Ich, 3 Cold Men and Trisomie 21, my support was given and the events had been carried through.

Counting on my love for electronic music, good will, previous experience with divulgation, support of friends, bands and labels, we established in 2005 the random project of parties: Sintetique. The project has exclusively the purpose to bring up all the rarities, releases and new features of electronic underground sounds. The Sintetique has as main members Antonio Carlos (DJ AC), Eduardo Castor (DJ Castor), Francisco Neto (DJ Xico) and Marcos Ribeiro (Web Designer and Promoter). I hope that with this new project, together with more members, support of the bands, labels and all the people on the way, it can rise up more and more the electronic scene.
