A Decent Animal

"a slow lashing"

About Me

A Decent Animal is atmospheric rock. Its tinges of Pink Floyd and Radiohead blended with alt country in a minor key. They play with great emotion, beauty and sadness. With uninhibited lyrics, subtle harmonies and haunting instrumentation, A Decent Animal wants to crawl inside your heart just to have a look.

Sounds Like: Rabbit Hole EP review in Performer Magazine: "A Decent Animal describes themselves as "sprung from the ashes of discontent." Discontent is indeed an understatement while listening to their Rabbit Hole Ep. We're not complaining, although A Decent Animal could seem that way at times. The band's sound is truly deep and rich. The conctant presence of minor chords matches the passion and depths of sadness of the lyrics. Additionally, non-resident instruments such as the lap steel and Hammond add enriching layers to the overall production. Of course, nothing quite brings out the blues like the sax, which is present in the form of a baritone sax on this EP.A Decent Animal would best be described as atmospheric rock. Indeed, there are influences of bands such as Pink Floyd and The Mars Volta in their sound. The one aspect of the album that is somewhat dizzying is the tone. While A Decent Animal is certainly not here to make depression sound upbeat, too much gloom and doom can drown what is really a truly original and great sound. Pink Floyd made sentiments like greed catchy with up-tempo movements. Rabbit Hole is definitely unique, distinct, impressive and immense in its sound. A Decent Animal has made an album like a shoulder to cry on that is perfect for those days you are feeling lonely, lost and as if it is you against the world. However, with sentiments drenched on melancholy, you might not be able to climb out of the hole you find yourself in." Allyson Wellsamerican apparel tan "fire breathing unicorn" t shirt $15.00
