In the past few days I've done some communicating with friends, parents, co-workers etc.. about politics. 2008 is an election year and the great state of Illinois has already done their part in the early year primary season. We stood up in support of our choice for both the Republican and Democratic nominees for the Presidency of the United States.
My political leanings are significantly farther to the left of the aisle than a lot of my friends who I love dearly, and I'll never come out and tell them they are wrong, but I will let my opinion be heard that I am afraid they have been misguided in their beliefs. People should seriously become more involved and more interested in this countries political system. Every four years we are given the opportunity to make our voices heard and make this nation great again and so many times we have failed to do so.
This year I'm putting my weight behind the junior Senator from my home state of Illinois, Barack Obama. I'm not playing favorites because he claims residency in Illinois, I'm not jumping on the Obamania bandwagon, I'm simply supporting the one candidate that talks about the issues that are of great concern to me.
Plans for renewable fuels and clean coal power to help the environment, reform on the ridiculous amounts of spending our country takes part in, universal and affordable healthcare, ending a pointless unnecessary war, and a more free and "wired" America in terms of technology and digital rights.....just to name a few.
Do your part as an American and get educated about the issues. A great place to start would be the official website for Senator Barack Obama . Check out the site and download the "Blueprint for Change".
This is a movement we must be a part of. This is the chance for us to make it all right again. To quote the Senator: "We are the ones we've been waiting for"
Let's get involved people.
Let's stand for change. If it is your will, it can be done.
Let's go to work!
Yes we can
