About Me

I'm writing my life/art bio over the next few days and I will be adding to it as it comes. My name is Arturo Singh and I am the youngest of three children. I was born in Holtville CA. in 1932 to migrant farm workers from Durango Mexico and India. My mother, from a soldier family, came here on top of a troop train after the revolution in Mexico and my father, also a soldier, was a Sikh who came to America in search of a better life. I spent my younger years running around the deserts of the Imperial Valley in South Eastern California and employed myself as a farm worker (which is back breaking work), as well as a construction laborer. At the age of 17 I followed my older brothers lead and enlisted into the United States Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. Soon after discharge I fell back to what I knew best, field work.
