About Me

Formed around June 2005, P.O.W. plays fast hardcore punk with some street influences. P.O.W. started out originally with Brent Menace and Brian Misled only, Brent on guitar/vocals and Brian on bass/backing vocals, the band at this point was called "The Miscreants". Shortly after Brian convinced Mikey (his brother) to play drums. Later, Ryan Bloom (Shallow Pockets) joined as rhythm guitar/backing vocals. We then realized "The Miscreants" was a horrible band name, so we changed the name to "Misled Youth". People seemed to like this name much more. We realized that "Misled Youth" was kind of cliche so we shortened it down to "The Misled". Soon after this, Brian kicked Ryan out of the band for disclosed reasons. At this point, our first show, which was a backyard show in Johnny's (Shallow Pockets) backyard, was coming up in about November 2005 with F.A.T.S. and Shallow Pockets, it was all of our first shows. Everyone liked us. A few days before the show we realized that "The Misled" was already a band from out of state. Realizing this, we changed our band's name to "Blown to Bits", which was a great band name, but we found out about 3 days before the show that that name was already in use as well. So a few days before our first show, our name was changed to "The Defiled". By the time our show came around, we earned the nickname "The Transformers" by our friends S.P. and F.A.T.S. due to our constant name changes. After our first show, we took a little break because Brian And Mikey went to Salinas to visit their mom for a while. Before they left, we decided that we didn't like our band name. We brainstormed for a name that would fit our lyrics and music perfectly, we discussed it in great detail. We decided that PANIC OVER WAR was a perfect band name for us. By the time they got back in January, we had another show to play at the Cedar Center, which we played, Brent played despite a broken foot. Once again, the crowd liked our music, which had greatly improved. After the show, the band sort of got lazy and didn't practice for a while, mostly due to Brian getting a job and Mikey's lack of committment. Around February to March 2006 we recorded our demo, the Panic Demo 2006, which is available now. We were recorded by Edwin Ortiz of Memphis Belle. The recording process was definitely a struggle, we ended up recording our entire 6 song demo in 4 hours in Brent Menace's garage the day before Edwin left for a 9-month tour with Memphis Belle. Although we recorded 6 songs, the song "Communist States of America" did not make it onto the demo due to technical difficulties. In addition, while recording the demo, Mikey was nowhere to be found, but was finally found to be somewhere in Tehachapi. Brent and Brian made him get home to record the demo, Mikey said he wanted to quit. After recording, Mikey changed his mind, but due to his lack of attendance to practice and his constant excuses for not playing shows, he was kicked out of the band. Brent and Brian were out of luck for a few months until they found Josey (F.A.T.S.). Josey started learninng the songs, slow at first, but then caught on pretty fast. We played a few shows over the summer of 2006. Midway through the summer, P.O.W. recruited Javier to the band as rhythm guitar, he is an incredibly fast learner. Since then we have played a few shows and are currently looking for as many shows as possible to play. Our style and sound has improved and changed greatly, and we have derived many more musical influences. We sing about what we want, and we don't care what you think of us, but we do love our fans! Thank you to any who have supported us through our career as a band!
We do have a new 9 song E.P. out now. We're selling it for $5. If you'd like to buy one, contact us and we'll exchange information. Thank you.
Do you want someone to help you promote your band? These guys will help.
