The David Lamm Trio

About Me

The music of The Dávid Lamm Trio is a unique mixture of different musical genres ranging from straight 8ths ballads to Klezmer-like tunes to fast swing and hip hop grooves. Most of the songs are original compositions, but the band likes to spice up their show now and again, with classics from artists such as John Coltrane or Bill Frisell. Dávid Lamm, the band’s founding member, is an experienced songwriter having composed music for advertisements, film and theatre in the past. He has played and recorded with several leading musicians in Hungary including Elemér Balázs (The Trio’s drummer), Saxophone virtuoso László Dés and folk singer Ági Szalóky.
He has dabbled with a variety of styles including Boogie-Woogie (Spoody-Oody), Reggae (Koala) and ethno-jazz grooves based on traditional Jewish music (HaGesher). He has also collaborated with Trip-hop formation, Sadant, and arranged songs for the Hungarian Pop singer, Caramel. Although Lamm’s main passion is classic and modern Jazz, his music still harks back to the various genres he’s work in over the years.
Bassist, Márton Soós, is one of the most sought after players of his generation. As well as being a gifted session musician, he is a member of guitarist Szabolcs Oláh’s modern Jazz formation and has worked with some of the best musicians in his country.
Elemér Balázs is the leading Jazz-man in Hungary. He has worked with a number of musical giants such as: Saxophanist Charlie Mariano, Lee Konitz, Randy Brecker, Art Farmer, Al Jarreau and Pat Metheny. He leads his own band, The Elemér Balázs Group, which also includes Márton Soós and Dávid Lamm.
Their latest CD, “Early Music”, features soprano singer Nuria Rial and contains arrangements of Baroque and Renaissance pieces, interpreted by the group’s unique style.
The Dávid Lamm Trio is recommended for open-minded music lovers and seasoned Jazz fans alike!
