And The trend Begins

There are no coincidences in life, and it is no coincidence that you are here now on this page reading about how our bracelets can be of value to your fashion lifestyle. The timing must be just right for you! Complete your look with the hottest new jewelry trend called "stacking". Stacking is wearing various bracelets at one time - different sizes, colors, shapes and textures. They can be stacked with each other in a set of 3 or for a fuller look - in a set of 7 or more. Make a unique look and stack them with the bracelets of your choice.

One new jewelry trend is stacking bangles with your wrist watch. Stacking bangles is hot!!! There is a October 2007 Glamour magazine article where they suggested spicing up your wristwatch with a couple of bangle bracelets. The magazine suggests that a reader might spice up her timepiece by layering it with a bangle bracelet or two. Glamour suggests that the bangle match the metal on the watch or its strap. Here’s a wonderful opportunity to help every customer who wears a wristwatch develop her jewelry wardrobe. Most watches require battery replacement, and the opportunity to focus on a watch with the customer is an optimal time for the customer to consider adding a bracelet to the mix. Although the bracelet might be as wide as the watch band or strap, I think the look works best when then bracelet is narrower than the watch. One issue you may encounter is the customer with a large hand who may not be able to slip a bangle bracelet on and off easily. For those customers, a thin link-style bracelet is a lovely alternative (and my personal preference). Adding a bracelet is a great way to update any wristwatch, small or large, daytime or evening style. This is a style suggestion that works for all your fashion-savvy customers.

Celebrities Who Stack Bracelets-

Stacking bracelets has become a hit with celebbrities, adding momentum to the trend that began a few seasons ago. I've been working to bring you new styles of bracelet, ones you can stack or layer with other bracelets. For years now, the purse was the ultimate fashion statement and women were paying hundreds and even thousands of dollars for designer bags. Today, bracelets are the up-and-coming accessory. “Bracelets really are the new handbags,” says Teman Evans, a New York-based jewelry designer whose Dioscuri bangles have graced the wrists of A-list celebrities such as Oprah.

Dioscuri’s colorful and chunky bracelets and cuffs, which can be found in OC’s Nordstrom stores or online at Nordstrom.com, are hot because they come in such bright colors as lemon, lime, berry and saffron. “Bracelets are so much fun because they really say a lot about your personality and you have so many styling options,” says Evans, who can be seen with his designer identical twin brother Teran on HGTV’s “Design Star.” Bracelets, says Evans, used to be “like the back up singers for the main attraction” or the “support staff for garments.” Not anymore. “Now, (bracelets) have the spotlight, so it only makes sense that bracelets would get chunkier and more exaggerated.”

Yes, dramatic shapes and over-sized proportions grab attention with bright colors, metallics, enamels, natural wood, animal motifs and modern materials such as Lucite. And not just one bracelet will do. “Women are stacking these big bracelets for a really dramatic look or just wearing single chunky bracelets in bright colors or materials to make a bold statement,” adds Evans.
The good news is that the bracelet trend is staying around for a while, so women don’t mind spending a little extra for the new styles. “I don’t expect so much of a bracelet trend for fall/winter, but just more incredible options and styles to pick from — expect to more exotic materials and combinations and new bold shapes,” says Evans.

Alexis Bittar, another New York designer whose modern-styled bracelets can be found at Nordstrom, says the thick and chunky bracelet styles come from this season’s “mod” look, influenced by 1960’s /’70s fashions. “Chunky bracelets are all the rage right now because we’ve been time-capsuled to the late ‘60s and ‘70s when futurism was all the rage,” says Bittar, who loves working with Lucite because of its reflective properties. “Women are stacking bangles and the bolder personality the wearer has, the more they’re stacking them.”

High-end designers are featuring thick wood, enamel or Lucite bangles, which can be found at South Coast Plaza’s Carolina Herrera, Tory Burch, Chanel, Valentino and Roberto Cavalli, to name only a few. Renee McCracken, president of online designer clothing and accessories store pinkmascara.com, says animal motifs, textured gold, hinged cuffs, patent leather and black-and-white combination bracelets are most popular. “Bracelets and bangles are a quick way to update your look this season,” says McCracken, who recently opened a brick-and-mortar Pink Mascara store in Irvine’s Woodbury Town Center. “Don’t be afraid of piling on as many as you like!” she adds.
So, maybe it’s time to forgo a new, expensive bag for the summer. With colorful and exotic bracelets stacked up your arm, perhaps a plain straw bag might make those clacking bangles an even louder fashion statement. “(I love) noise they make when you’re doing your power walk from your desk to the water cooler,” says Bittar.
