"What is ROC Church?"We are a Real Church for Real People.
We believe that Real People have Real Problems & need a Real God who has Real Answers.
What that means is we are aware of the fact that we are not perfect people. We are not yet who we want to be, but we are grateful that we are no longer who we were before we met Jesus.Christianity is a journey, and we are all in a different place in that journey, so we feel like we, as a church, should come alongside people & help make the trip more manageable. We want to Do Life Together.
What that means to us is we want to help people be better husband and wives, better parents, better children, employees, friends & neighbors - ultimately better people. We are not in any way, shape, or form interested in pushing, nor promoting, Religion. Instead we are interested in promoting Relationship - both with our Heavenly Father as well as with other people.Jesus gave a lot of incredible teachings in the New Testament but, at least for us, there are 2 that jump off the page. Those 2 are commonly referred to as The Great Commission & The Great Command. In the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19) Jesus said; Go & make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of Father & of the Son & of the Holy Spirit. The way we incorporate that at ROC is that we are not interested in making Converts who will have an experience with God but simply fall back into lives of confusion. Instead we are interested in doing what Jesus said - we want to make Disciples. That means we are willing to give our lives to people with an openness & reckless abandon - showing them God's love in a practical way so they will want to explore Him in a deeper way. We want to make Christ Followers. In the Great Command (Matthew 22:37) Jesus said; "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two Commandments." To us that means we should be the most loving people you will ever meet. When you encounter us we are open & kind, patient & understanding, compassionate & affectionate. When you leave our church or simply an encounter with one of the people who call ROC home you feel better about yourself, your life & your future. We want to treat you that way because, not only is that how we want people to make us fell but ultimately because that's how Jesus treats us & makes us feel.We believe in the power of the Holy Spirit & His ability to change all our lives for the better. We believe in the supernatural & in the Gifts of the Spirit as given in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10 as well as the Fruits of the Spirit as given in Galatians 5:22-23. We feel like both the Gifts of the Spirit & the Fruits of the Spirit should be given the liberty to function & flow in our services however
God see fit. What a great place to serve! We love you all!
--Pastors Shawn and Sonny HennessyOur Vision is to Connect to:
-God
-People
-Knowledge
-CultureWe want to be Jesus with Skin on. We want to act as He did not as religion has passed down. Jesus was gentle and kind but relevant. We believe the Holy Spirit gives us power and boldness to go out and make disciples as the Great Commission asks of us.We want truth, not man's ways to guide our church and our people.
