Several, but the ones at the forefront of my life right now are: Writing (mostly screenplays at this time), good movies, paranormal research, abandoned houses, playing/learning the drums
I'd like to meet:
David Draiman of Disturbed
James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich of Metallica
How many drummers does it take to change a lightbulb?
Five: One to screw the bulb in, and four to talk about how much better Neil Peart coulda done it.
Do You Need Drum Lessons?
If you don't have a local drum teacher or can't afford the cost of one-on-one lessons, you can check out Mike Johnston of Sacramento, California's notorious "The Drum Lab": MikesLessons
He offers live online drum lessons for only 19.99 a month. Here's what you get: 8 thirty-minute lessons a month, MP3s of each lesson (slow and fast tracks), printable sheet music for practice, and an interactive Questions and Answers section at the end of classes.
As a student, you will also be able to upload your own videos so that Mike can check on your progress.
The following video was not a part of a live lesson, but it will give you a feel for Mike Johnston's style of teaching.
Music:
I listen to everything but country. Some of my favorite bands would be: Cradle of Filth, Metallica, After Forever, Nightwish, Disturbed, Ancient, Alice Cooper, some King Diamond, Therion, Netherbird, Hail the Night, and Rotting Christ.
When I'm in the beginning stages of creating new worlds and characters for stories and scripts, I like to listen to Vivaldi, Liszt, Strauss, Le'rue Delashay, and Tchaikovsky.
Movies:
Mostly Horror. Some of my favorites are: House of Wax (original and remake), Halloween 4 and 5, The Amityville Horror, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Salem's Lot, Christine, The Stand, Evil Dead.
I'm not beyond throwing in a cheesy B horror movie from time to time, either. I usually get a good laugh out of them, though some are downright intolerable! One of my favorite B movies is "Fear of Clowns."
Television:
Ghost Hunters, A Haunting, Most Haunted, Ghostly Encounters.
I also like to watch select shows on the History and Discovery channels.
Books:
Shtuff by Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Ray Garton, and other similar horror authors.
Currently reading: "Tower Hill" by Sarah Pinborough
Next on the list: Not sure, yet.
Yes, I read thought-provoking non-fiction as well ;)
Currently reading: "The Templar Revelation" by Lynn Picknett and Clive Prince
Next on the waiting list: "The Lure of the Dark Side: Satan and Western Demonology in Popular Culture" by Christopher Partridge
Shameless plug-- I've written and published two young adult fantasy novels:
Veiled in Human Flesh
Death Dealer
On that note, I'd advise authors to stay clear of Publish America. They are
not like most traditional publishers, and you will probably be disappointed with their whole process, especially the lack of marketing provided.
Heroes:
Cradle Of Filth-Prince Of Persia-Part 1 Of "Bathory Aria"
Cradle Of Filth-Prince Of Persia-Part 2 Of "Bathory Aria"
