About Me

I'm a long time fashion and lifestyle illustrator and native New Yorker living in the Bronx (Riverdale, country living in NYC... especially when the skunks show up on trash night). I share my roost with my husband, Bill and 27 year old parrot (I think it's time for this bird to get a job!).

My Interests

Illustration, music + concerts, travel, books, Tokidoki, meeting new people...

I'd like to meet:

I'm open to meeting lots of people with similar interests... I love to network :)

Who I DON'T want to meet:

• People wanting to 'let me in on' 'home based business opportunities' (read: tri-level marketing scams). No, thanks... I already have a REAL business.

• Anyone wanting to 'trick out' my profile page layout because they think it's 'weak'. Um, insulting me will not make me want to have anything to do with you. Move along.

• Male myspace 'collectors' (guys who only have female 'friends'... girls who usually look like they are trying out for extremely low budget porn). I don't care if you think I am cute, sexy or happen to live in the same town as you... If we have nothing in common, keep steppin'.

• Anyone with a hip-hop based profile. Just because I am Puerto Rican and am from the Bronx doesn't mean I'm into it. Again, if we have nothing in common, move onto the next profile.

• Anyone who asks to friend me who has their profile set to private. If you don't send me a message explaining why you want to know me, consider your request deleted.

Words to live by...

Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education alone will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.

- US President Calvin Coolidge

The lyrics above still hold true today, 25+ years later... Just substitute celebrity of the moment instead of the unfortunate, deceased Princess Di.

Movies:

My movie taste is a wide and varied as my musical tastes... American classics, obscure foreign films, documentaries, fantasy, sci-fi and horror.

My all time favorites...

Young Frankenstein, Marx Brothers films, What's New Pussycat?, The Twelve Chairs, The Producers, Cinema Paradiso, The Manchurian Candidate (original), 12 Angry Men, To Kill a Mockingbird, Blade Runner, Shortbus, Brokeback Mountain, American Beauty, La Vie en Rose... Other memorable films... Legend, Blade, the original Star Wars Trilogy, Heavy Metal, Audrey Hepburn films, Leslie Caron films, Cary Grant films, Some Like it Hot, Gone With the Wind, The Wizard of Oz, Blowup, Mad Hot Ballroom... Sooo many to mention! I will post more as I remember them!

Television:

I only really watch Oprah and the 5 O'Clock news. Letterman, The Simpsons and Who's Line is it Anyway are classic. I also like Antiques Roadshow and nature shows.

Most other TV is crap.

Books:

I've read so much over the years, it's hard to note them all... I love books on history, sexual sociology, humor, biographies, fantasy, scary books, funny books, coffee table books... David Sedaris is a pisser.

My fave book of all times that come to mind are"

'Feast of All Saints by Anne Rice' so descriptively beautiful and a great story. 'The Alchemist' by Paul Coelho is now also another favorite. I also love the Narnia series... classic.
