Morgana Ancone conceived Morgana and the Monstars in 2001 after the demise of ARIA nominated all girl rock outfit Nitocris. In her reflective period, Morgana combined the likes of 13 musicians, producers and engineers to work on an eclectic project, releasing an Album titled 'Meet the Monstars' (MGM Distribution) After being swallowed by a giant 50ft woman, Morgana returned to writing rock songs again. In Turn Recording Her 6 Track EP 'Retail Therapy'(MGM Distribution) The new EP "Retail Therapy" has expanded The Musical relationship between "lush self-contained emotional soundscape's" (Robert Shaw) on her first album and heavy rock bringing forth a new style of dark rock, bordering on alternative, yet combining POP in its purest essence with Hard edged guitar riffs and pulsating drums. "While most writers torture meaning from words, Morgana has a remarkable ability to delicately tease images and emotions from their use" (Robert Shaw) She searched through the swamps and marshes for like minded munching monstars, uncovering the talents of her current line up. The Monstars band exists in two dimentions, firstly as a live rock act and secondly as a recording ensemble. The Monstars live band is a 3 piece alternative rock band comprising of Morgana with powerful vocal's and lound/proud guitar, Ben T+1 the Bass playin' bitch and our latest addition .... A three piece that makes noise YES!
The Monstars recording ensemble consists of Morgana and Ben yet again with the addition of Christian "Bleeding Gums" McBride and Ben Kinetic and all four are currently, although very slowly, working on the new Mostars album.
