GlenBucy.comFirst off, I was home schooled, at the Age of 17 I was in the Wedgwood Baptist church shooting here in Fort Worth, I helped carry people out of the church that were shot and performed first aid on the wounded until Paramedics arrived. After the shooting, I was on all the local and national news stations. I appeared on Dateline NBC, and also the Today Show. I also had the opportunity of speaking at many different churches because of the publicity of the shooting. On new years eve 1999/2000 I had the opportunity to be a key note speaker at a Baptist youth conference (Youth Link 2000) in Tampa Florida to over 200,000 high school students and via satellite to six other cities including Atlanta, Anaheim, Denver, Houston, Philadelphia, and St. Louise. Also while in high school I worked for McDonalds on the Play Place 2000 Project (A high tech play place for kids and parents with computers and internet service). While at McDonalds, I worked with the owner designing the new play place concept. While trying to get corporate backing for the new play place, I met several different presidents of McDonalds International. I also had the opportunity of meeting Paul Allen co-founder of Microsoft. Allen at the time was trying to get a new family internet company started and was interested in our work at McDonalds. After working on the play place 2000 project for over a year, my father graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. My father was to be a church planter and we moved to New Jersey. A few months after the move, the 9/11 terrorist attacks happened. I could see the smoke from the twin towers from my house. I was very upset, and wanted to protect my country. After speaking with my father, I decided to join the Army. After completing basic training, I was stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska. I was an Airborne Infantryman. I was promoted on a fast track, and went from E1 to E4 in under two years. While in the army I spent one year in Southeastern Afghanistan conducting combat operations in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. I worked with my company commander and first sergeant. I received additional training in encrypted voice and satellite communications for our deployment and acted as a radio telephone operator for my commander in addition to my normal infantry duties. During my enlistment, I received the following awards: Expert Marksmanship award, Combat Infantry Badge, two Army Achievement Awards, Army Commendation Award, Silver Airborne Wings, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Overseas Service Ribbon. When not on a mission, I was always reading about computers and knew computers were an important part of my life, that’s when I had an idea. When I got out of the army, I would create a new online vehicle computer system similar to Onstar, and America Online but with advanced features just for a vehicle. That was when I decided to devote my professional life to computers.I want to major in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Texas Austin. I have done much research on the top engineering schools in America, and UT Austin has always been listed in the top 10. I believe with the work that is currently going on at UT Austin in the field of Car and Vehicle computing under Dr. Peter Stone, that I would learn a lot from attending such a fine school. Also while in school at UT Austin, I plan on finding several different people to start my own software firm with. I plan on making my idea of an online car computer network a profitable product not only to save lives, but to also offer in car entertainment.Other accomplishments I have made include: Black Belt in American Karate, also an instructor in American Karate for over 8 years. Who’s Who among High School Students Recipient, and I had the Honor of Meeting President Bush.Well that is pretty much my life up till now. I’ve been attending TCC ever since I got out of the Army back in April of 2005.Facebook me!
