Vakill, the primary emcee of the Molemen, first gained his passion for hip hop through the breaking element rather than rapping. At eight years old, Vakill was strongly influenced by the music he experienced in his wild 100's neighborhood 119th st., such as Kraftwerk and Sugar Hill Gang. As the art form evolved, rapping took precedence over breakdancing. He met Panik in 1991 at the weekly Terrordome hip hop meetings, and together laid the foundation for the Molemen entity.

Vakill's primary lyrical inspirations are such legendary emcees as Kool G Rap, Ice T, T La Rock, but describes his mindset and style on his groundbreaking record "the Darkest Cloud" as "Pharoah Monche gone bad". Vakill believes that through his lyrics he manifests "honest expression" conveyed in a vivid, unexpected way.Vakill believes that in order to succeed within this industry is to cultivate a strong discipline and devotion to the craft. He believes that the track that best portrays the "full spectrum" of his personality is "the Creed" from "The Darkest Cloud".

Following the EP "Who's Afraid?" in 1995, Vakill released a series of singles throughout the mid to late 1990's, including the classic "Keep the Fame" in 1997. "The Darkest Cloud" LP solidified his international notoriety in 2003, and has paved the way for his newest LP "Worst fears Confirmed" featuring appearances from Ras Kass and Royce 5'9.-Will Line

Vakill: The Confirmation
By: Paine

Having produced for All Natural, Cali Agents, and 7L & Esoteric, the Molemen are largely thought of as Chicago’s beat-society. But as Panik and Memo plug away at the boards, the microphone is gripped by an admitted fiend. Vakill has been releasing twelve-inch singles for a decade. In 2004, his Darkest Cloud album was revered by many as the independent album of the year. The work still has the press and fans talking, while others were left on a scavenger hunt just to find a copy. Read Article

VAKILL - WORST FEARS CONFIRMED
4 STAR RATING!!!
Reviewed by: illseed

Darkness is what’s missing from Hip-Hop and that isn’t in reference to the complexion of the rappers doing it. These days, Hip-Hop is one big happy-go-lucky circus of confection, whether your love is killing your own people, doing drugs or just ignoring social issues.

Vakill isn’t a clown and he’s certainly not one to visit the circus.

The Chicago rapper is just one of the many MC’s blowing out of the Windy City with a variance that begs to be called the new home of Hip-Hop. Vakill’s sophomore album, Worst Fears Confirmed, (Molemen Inc.) is a testament that all isn’t sweet Read Article
