My name is Marisa. I'm 20 years old. I grew up in Milwaukee but I am Turtle Mountain Ojibwe. I live in Minneapolis right now, where I am attending University of Minnesota and also working as an Ojibwe Language Immersion teacher. I mostly love my life.The first thing you should know about me is that I'm not cool. I'm not, I'm a huge dork. I'm good with that.Sometimes people say I'm kinda mental, but I don't mean to be. I guess it just works out that way or something. I'm good with that too.I am easily amused, but difficult to impress.If I don't respond to your messages or comments, please don't take it personally. I am really busy and I sometimes just don't get around to responding to myspace stuff, so please know that if you write sometime to me and I don't answer, it isn't because I am just blowing you off. Myspace is actually probably one of the worse ways to get ahold of me.

My Interests

Ojibwe language, indigenous language revitalization, cooking, decolonization in indigenous communities, sewing, playing piano, playing guitar, singing, food network, karaoke, jingle dress, taking pictures, painting, writing, reading, poetry even though i'm not very good at it, taking naps, beadwork. I want to write a play.

Music:

I love music. I could read notes before I could read words. I can appreciate nearly every kind of music. I like blues, classical, rock, hip-hip, classic country...just about everything except techno and easy listening. I write a lot of music but I can never decide if that's my favorite music, or the music I like the least.

Movies:

Lots. I really like old movies, particularly.

Television:

food network, bitches.

Books:

Too many to name, I love to read! I finally ran out of room on my bookshelf back home and now I have big piles of books stacked on the floors and stuff.

Heroes:

My grandma and a few other elder women I really admire...I guess I don't really believe in heroes, just in people...
