Graphic Design, Art, Drawing, Painting, Photography, music (of course), dancing for hours in the livingroom with Tricia!!!, getting lost on the dancefloor, DJing on the ones and twos, sifting through records, toy robots, shiny things, SF underground culture, chinchillas, B Movies, deep meaningful conversations with detours of hilarity, spicy super chicken burritos, really bad puns and really good people.
You know, the usual stuff. I collect old new wave, electro, early house and moog records as well as taking in all the hipster stuff they play on KCRW and KALX. Lately I've been listening to: Avalanches, Erlend Oye, Kings of Convenience, Royksopp, Herbert, Bjork (even my chinchilla's named Bjork), Daft Punk, Bran Van 3000, Mark Farina, The Greenskeepers, Chicken Lips, electro, Newcleus, 808 State, Kraftwerk, Gary Numan, Magnetic Fields, Koop, Truby Trio, Yo La Tengo, Belle and Sebastian, Fantastic Plastic Machine, Stereolab, Broadcast, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Meat Beat Manifesto, Thrill Kill Kult, New Order, Neko Case, Mel Torme, Ella Fitzgerald, Koop, Joao and Astrud and Bebel Gilberto , Gotan Project, Deep Dish, new wave, Human League, Cocteau Twins, 4AD, DJ Shadow, Everything But The Girl, Joy Division, Interpol, Orbital, VHS or Beta, The Wedding Present, hi-fi lounge, Martin Denny, Esquival, anything with Moogs, Kruder and Dorfmeister, Ulrich Schnauss, indie rock, DFA records, Compost records, Broken Social Scene, New Pornographers, Soul Coughing, Arcade Fire etc. etc. blah, blah, blah.
I find myself unexplainably entertained by really bad movies such as: Raw Force, Star Crash, Death Wish Club, Breakin' (and let us not forget Breakin' 2 Electric Boogaloo) and I think Forbidden Zone is a masterpiece! but I also like actual, good movies such as: Blue Velvet, City of Lost Children, Old Boy, Pi, Beauty and the Beast (you heard me!), Roman Holiday and anything Ray Harryhausen(!) And as you may have guessed, pretty much any movie with robots.
It's hard to pick favorites. I'll read just about anything with text on paper. Nabokov, Roald Dahl, Lovecraft, Poe, Bradbury, Vonnegut (...yeah, I'm a dork)
Julie is my hero because she totally schooled me at name-that-new-wave-song, dammmnnn youuuuuu!!!
