Women's history (particularly Victorian era/Civil War era American women's history, but it's ALL good), Mardi Gras history, Forensic science, cats, New Orleans
Now here's an interesting question. Whom would I like to meet? Well, in the world of modern pop culture, I'd have to go with Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, Gary Sinise, and Gerard Butler. Also John Edward (you know, that guy who talks to dead people), Allison DuBois (who also talks to dead people), and Sylvia Browne (guess what she does...)From the realm of 80s music I'd say any or all of the members of Night Ranger and A-ha (but anyone from any hair and/or hard rock band would do nicely, thank you.)As for authors, well, there's just too many to list. Margaret Mitchell, Sara Willis Parton (a.k.a. Fanny Fern), Alison Weir, Louisa May Alcott, Richard Matheson, Bharati Mukherjee, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, C.S. Lewis, Kate Chopin, Susan Glaspell, Christina Rossetti, Margaret Atwood...I could continue...From history, I'd start with St. Mechthild of Hackeborn, Sarah Morgan (if you don't know who she is, look it up), Rose O'Neal Greenhow, Alice Paul, any of the Soviet women fighter pilots from WW II or women from the AAGPBL, Jennie Hodgers...are you seeing a trend? On Myspace, I'm not looking to meet anyone. I'm just looking to connect (or reconnect) with friends both old and new. I'm happily married, so clearly I'm not looking to hook up. Heck, I'm not even looking to flirt. Or catch .. sex predators, for that matter.
Night Ranger (always!) A-ha, pretty much every song from the musical Phantom of the Opera (personally, I prefer the movie version to the stage version), pretty much any big hair band/singer from the 80's (including but not limited to Poison, Warrant, Whitesnake, Journey, Richard Marx, Duran Duran, Def Leppard, Slaughter...you get the picture), songs from old musicals ( Oklahoma, The King and I, My Fair Lady, Camelot...you get the picture), Alanis Morissette, Hayseed Dixie, Nickelback, Stimulator, any Gregorian chant...I'm sure there's more, but I can't think of any right this second.
The video below is by a group called Stimulator. They are completely awesome.

Gone With the Wind, Ride With the Devil (a.k.a. Civil War chick flick and Civil War guy flick), Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Road to Wellville, G.I. Jane, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Phantom of the Opera, Miss Congeniality, Iron Jawed Angels, Last of the Mohicans
Current faves are The Closer, The 4400, Dead Zone, House, 30 Days, Mythbusters, Dead Like Me, Ghost Whisperer, Grey's Anatomy and Eureka. Also Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Tru Calling, Joan of Arcadia (all of which are off the air, dammit), South Park, Celebrity Fit Club (yep, it's cheesy, but at least it's not Flavor of Love...), Dancing With the Stars, pretty much any forensic science show I can find (not the dramas, the A & E, Discovery Channel, Court TV stuff), Supernatural, Charmed, Gilmore Girls, Medium, Law & Order (any variation, but prefer SVU and CI
Hmmm...where to begin? Well, I've recently discovered a series of books by Brian Jacques (which, oddly enough, can be found in the young teenager chapter books). The whole series is collectively called The Redwall Books. There's more than a dozen so far, and anyone who likes both small furry creatures and fantasy novels should read them.Margaret Atwood is also another good one. Now, for me her books are sort of hit or miss. The two I like best are The Handmaid's Tale (which I've read several times) and The Penelopiad (sort of The Odyssey from Penelope's point of view.)For all the vampire lovers out there for whom Anne Rice has taken on a "been there...done that..." feel, I highly recommend I Am Legend by Richard Matheson. (How I missed this one until I was in my 30s is beyond me.) This author also wrote What Dreams May Come, which was made into a most excellent movie with Robin Williams and Annabella Sciorra. For all you history lovers out there, Alison Weir is particularly good at writing books dealing with Henry VIII, his wives, his children, and generally things of that nature. Her books are AWESOME!!!!
Also, Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. HUGE FRICKEN BOOKS, but totally worth the time spent!!!!
Brandon Burgess of Burgess Auto Body in Pocahontas (248-0091). He fixed my hail damaged car for about half the money the insurance gave me to get it fixed (leaving plenty for my damaged roof, my damaged ceiling....) Brandon rocks! Get your car fixed there! Not really my hero, but certainly one of my FAVORITE poets! Can't believe this quiz came out this way.Take the quiz:
What crazy ass poet are you? (pics)
Robert Browning
No one knows what the hell you are talking about and your work is full of creeps. You like writing for the hell of it and thought talent surpassed all things. You are devoted being, even if your poetry is wild, you are still not all that weird. You are a lover and will continue to be successful for many moons.
