Leins Rios (AKA L High the Nome) is the first generation son of Colombian immigrants, born and raised in Miami. Coming of age amidst booty shake beats and entranced by their break-neck 808 rhythms, he found his way to Hip Hop—and fell in love. The year was 1989. In 1993, at the impressionable age of fourteen, he began writing lyrics. Since then, L High has not missed a beat. Watching lyrical masters such as Outkast , Del the Funky Homosapiean, Aesop Rock, and Rakim—and learning. His musical tastes have grown and spread from World Music to Rock, Trip Hop and Drum and Bass, to Jazz, Blues, and Dub Step—a perfect palette of paint for someone whose home is Indie Hip Hop.
Inspired by a desire to write and record at any time, in 2000 Nome bought an MPC2000xl and a key board and began making beats. Brave New World (2006), a seven track EP—demonstrating a sound influenced by producers such as DJ Shadow, Dan the Automator, and EL-P—was the first material released from this experiment. Following its warm reception, L High continued to mix live instrumentation with digital beats, amassing a library of genre-melding musical odysseys set for release on his label Mov’em Entertainment. His stable of fellow artists housed at the label growing alongside him as they do live shows around Miami, moving at the speed of an 808 beat.
Nome is also currently at work on the score for the film “If I Die Tonight.â€
