"A person who is nice to you, but is rude to a waiter, is NOT a nice person."
Let's see. I've realized I haven't really written about me, but did the ol' beat around the bush bio. So here we go...I like beating around the bush. I like making people laugh but sometimes I try too hard, or possibly just drink too much. I have very few friends who COMPLETELY understand me, and even then it's not 100% complete, though it couldn't be because if I don't understand all of me how could they? The others of my friends would say I'm weird, but the type of weird that makes you laugh. Either that or they wouldn't be my friend and call me that weird asshole. I try not to be an asshole. I'm never the attacker. Always on the defense. You're cool to me, I am to you. Fair trade eh?
I love people watching. I miss most sitting on a bench in Manhattan at lunch and watching thousands of people with their own issues pass by. Same on the subway. Bring on the crazies! I love it. My favorite class/teacher was psychology of personality. I took that at Boston University, where I studied for four years 2000-2004. I love the mind and TRYING to understand each unique person's own.
My life as well as my writing is a mild rollercoaster. I go through my productive days and my lazy days. Still don't know what the hell I'm doing here. I'm lost. I'm in Australia. I write a lot of songs about women because there are soo many different situations between a man and a woman. Some experiences I've taken from my own and others in general. Either way, the chemistry between two people I don't believe can be completely complimentary, completely figured out, or duplicated. People are weird. Bringing two people together only magnifies that situation. Am I making sense?
I love kids and I love smiling at both them and sweet old people. It's nice to make others smile...and laugh. Coming to Australia, I realize I'm bad at keeping in touch. Friends and family touch my thoughts, but I just don't push that to e-mail and phone often...I can't wait to go back though. First thing's first...Roast beef sub with mayo, lettuce, tomato, provalone and hell...spread a little egg salad on top! After that huge sandwich I'll stretch my stomach and have a bagel with cream cheese..and then pizza....and then.....YEA!!! Can't WAIT for the food. Well that's it for now I guess. Now I'll leave my babble about the music shit.I'm originally from New York, and I've just finished studying audio engineering in Melbourne, Australia. I've extended my visa until January to play with my current band, though it's kind of on hold after the recent guitarist wrist wreckage.
Whenever I head back to NY, I'll be looking to do SOMETHING at a record label (probably advertising/marketing since I studied it) while I research starting my own (possibly internet based) and sign talent I believe in, some of whom I already know well.
Although I'm not a band, I do work with several people and have just started a band as well.
My band's name is People's Equals, and you can find us (and some of our tunes soon) at www.myspace.com/peoplesequals. Our instruments consist of Guitar, Sax, Bass, Drums and Vocals. What up Chris, Nick, Luke and Pete! Check us out!
I also work with Declassified, representing Germany. He has produced my songs such as 'Love and Understanding' and 'Explode,' while also being the brain behind some of the People's Equals songs. Originally I had written songs to his beats, and now I've expanded some of his ideas to our band. Thanks De! We'll definitely be working on a lot more things in the near future. We also have the songs "I Can't Remember (the original)" and "Ain't No Sunshine (the original)," which was actually never fully completed since the band adopted this one.
I can thank Johny Mac, reppin' the UK, for a lot of my last album's production (as well as various other songs), for such songs as "Back From Iraq," which our band also recreated, "Funky Fun," "Do It Slow," "Springtime," "Jack and Jill," and "There You Go," to name a few... All of these songs were done under the alias Kaspaar. I'm now Mike Wait, and only my good friends can still call me Kas! ;) I also have a ton of unfinished songs with Johny (sorry bro!) which EVENTUALLY I'll get finished, including Fire Up the Haze, which many of you have searched for since the damn French ski video put it in even though it wasn't done!
Arkitek, reppin' Australia, produced "DJ Authenticity."
I have also worked with (or have yet to finish the track(s) with) Soulcial (what up bro!), DK, Daze, Kaz, Seb, Clint, Eddie B, Casey, Rachel, and Zoe. If I missed you let me know!
If one of my songs was a ringtone, would you purchase it for $1?
