About Me

To state the obvious, my name is Ben. You may call me Benji, Benjamin, Ben-jammin, whatever you prefer, but only my dear sweet grandmothers may call me Bennie. I've been under the idea for some time that I am of the ninja variety, since I know for a fact that I am not a pirate. I'm tattooed and pierced, the body is just another canvas for my designs. I am an Arts Application Music major at North Carolina State University, minoring in music theory, working towards a vocal performance minor as well and you can normally find me wearing a hat sporting my own artwork.
More serious information:
I am currently a Customer Service Representative for Blockbuster.
I have experience in food service industry and library management.
I was formerly employed by the Technician at NCSU for weekly editorial cartoons and Arts & Entertainment feature writing. (but someone lost my payroll info for the 4th time and I got tired of getting shortchanged)
I plan to be a musician full time.
I am slowly but surely putting together my own little studio that one day I hope will earn me some revenue.
I would like to go to Full Sail and get an Associates Degree in recording sciences and open a studio with my good friend Jason Lynn.
I am currently with the band Fashionably Late, and intend to stay with them, but I am available for collaborations and side projects.
Fashionably Late is currently in the process of recording songs and will be offering them to the public as soon as possible given our geographic situation.
I do instrument art, and will do a custom design for you for a very reasonable price (Supplies + $20 for time spent)

My thoughts:
We are all the same, or at least started that way. Life will always shorthand someone undeservedly or unfairly bless the greedy, but if we all take the time to look past the social, racial, and sexual lines that divide people we will all see how valuable each and every person on the planet is to the human race as a whole. There is compassion in all of us, even if some have to dig deeper that others to find it.
Socio-Economics have found a way to bypass a nation founded on democracy and split us into a class system again where the rich are getting richer, the poor poorer, and the lower class has to work ten times harder just to afford basic conveniences and feed themselves. Maybe we should focus more on internal equal distribution of work and wealth before meddling in anymore foreign affairs.
Oh, I'm also under the impression that life is only as interesting as you make it, so break out of your box, cycle, or routine and do something that makes you glad to be alive.
Here's what I'm listening to lately:

Movies:

I work at Blockbuster and I've seen a lot of movies and they all tend to follow the same formula, however there are some that will always stick out in my mind. These are such movies as Dead Poets Society, Requiem for a Dream, The Shawshank Redemption, The Fountain, RENT, Evil, Almost Famous, The Postman, What Dreams May Come, and The Motorcycle Diaries. They are all excellent movies that I highly recommend.

Television:

Heroes, House, Smallville, Freakazoid, Yu Yu Hakusho, Infomercials, The Price Is Right.

Books:

Working in a library is wonderful when you're looking for new worlds to explore, and most of my favorite authors do that for me on a regular basis. These authors are Orson Scott Card, Stephen King, Clive Barker, Jim Butcher, Philip K. Dick, James Patterson, Anthony Burgess, and many other authors that have written wonderful novels that fill my bookshelf to the point of collapsing and pack every corner of my room.

Heroes:

I have a great deal of respect for many people but only a few people I regard as heroes. This list includes, first and foremost, Ernesto "Che" Guevara. If you research his life and work with an open mind and heart you will understand my fascination with him. And secondly, every member of my family. They're strange at best but I'm glad of every day I have them in my life.
