About Me

MISSION STATEMENT:

The mission of Red Ink Theatre Company is to inspire honesty. Theatre should allow, both audience and performer alike, to unearth unique, independent ideas of the world and of their place in it. Red Ink Theatre Company discovers its works and itself through an aggressive rehearsal process of trial and error. We discover ourselves by developing new works. We discover each other by performing time-tested productions. We discover new ideas by not being afraid to fail. By using different theatrical tools and styles, including writing, solo performance work, improvisation, and sketch comedy, Red Ink Theatre Company gives art the opportunity to imitate life. We find honesty through our process and display it for our audience. We inspire honesty through discovery.

HISTORY:

Red Ink Theatre Company’s first production “4 Days Late” was an original sketch comedy revue that stood fearless in the face of absent reviewers. Its awesome run at The Spot, in Uptown, was concluded with a highly successful, sold-out performance at Chicago Sketchfest, 2008. It’s newest show “iAlone”, an original solo-performance showcase, is currently under production, scheduled to be performed Thursday and Friday nights at 7pm, April 17th – May 2nd at The Spot, 4437 N. Broadway. 4 Days Late will also be returning in the summer of 2008 to rock The Spot once again. Red Ink Theatre Company’s first full-length production, TBA, will be making you giddy and uncomfortable in the winter of 2008. Red Ink Theatre Company was founded by Artistic Director, Erin Lane, and Managing Director, Brian Bush. Erin Lane graduated from Columbia College Chicago. She has also graduated from the Second City Conservatory here in Chicago as well as from IO and Annoyance Productions. She has been performing professionally for over 9 years and has been directing in Chicago for one. Brian Bush moved to Chicago after graduating from the University of Idaho two years ago. He has been performing professionally for over six years.
